All computers can get bent

Why can't they make a computer that won't crash? Lose your files? Erase your content? How does the computer know you have a 10,000 word dissertation due in a week? Why does the computer choose to dump your files at this particular moment in time, when you've got no ink in your printer at home, and no credit on your printer account at uni?
