Hello was the first word spoken between them.
Amelia spoke first after three weeks of shy smiles and nervous eye contact. Jayme didn't even have time to say hello back before she was gone again; still, she was instantly mesmerized by the younger girl.
It was the beginning of everything.

Goodbye was the last word spoken between them.
Jayme isn't sure how she got in so deep but Amelia, who she needed like oxygen, had owned her; each touch akin to a brand, a heart-deep mark of possession. And yet Amelia still chose goodbye.
It was the end of everything.
