Everyone, this is big. Remember hott_baguettes and how it closed without warning? I bet you do. Well, I have some news. I've been contacted by one of the original moderators of HB (and know that despite my personal feelings toward the pairing and the fact that she and I have rarely spoken before, I don hold this person in the highest of regards) and she has sent me an... "official statement," so to speak, on behalf of the whole HB team. I'm posting it here for all of you. It fairly addresses the closing of hott_baguettes and the temporary reopening of the community. Read below for more information.
Hott Baguettes Deletion / Temporary Reopening
I apologise for the delay in getting an official word out about this, but one of the mods has been away and I didn't want to announce anything officially without conferring with her first.
The community has been deleted with no intention of reopening. It was a mutual desicion by all moderators to delete the community, rather than pass it on to someone else to moderate. This was basically because Hott Baguettes hadn't been what it used to be in a very long time, due to all mods losing interest in the fandom. We thought it would be better for everyone to start fresh if they were still interested in the pairing, rather trying to revive a dead community.
It didn't help matters that the website never got off the ground properly, at first due to lack of time, then due to lack of interest. It expired last year and we had no intention of renewing it.
As for the community memories, I was in sole charge of doing that and to be honest it was quite overwhelming and I don't think they had been updated since 2003. A lot of old fiction writers had been contacting me recently requesting me to delete their work from the community as well.
However, the community will be undeleted temporarily between 8am 23rd Jan - 8AM 25th Jan (New Zealand Standard Time), for the sole purpose of allowing members to save their fics etc. No posts will be approved in this duration, and it will be redeleted after this period of time for good.
It would be much appreciated if you could cease contacting any of the old mods through their personal journals or email addresses regarding Hott Baguettes. Any further questions about the community can be voiced here and I will answer as best I can.
