Processor and memory are fairly important parts in a computer... you'd think they'd be the first thing you'd choose... but i guess you know better than me.
Also, do you actually need a floppy drive? I was just saying to my mate Dave how redundant mine is, cos I use my USB stick mostly or a CD...

Anyway, catch you back up at St ANdrews. When you going BTW?

Well the point was it supposed to be a short term upgrade instead of a full hardcore upgrade to a 64bit system. The current processor is fine to Joe Bloggs its a 2400+ running at 2Ghz (stock) and the memory is 1GB of DDR memory.

Problem is im only running a fsb of 266Mhz with poor memory timings, plus the processor is a throughbred core with only 256k of L2 cache. I could get a new processor and memory and run a 400Mhz fsb BUT that would cost at least £160 - £160 that cannot be taken to a new 64bit system.

You need a floppy disk drive if you want to install a SATA hard drive because you need the drivers.

I'll be back in St Andrews around 12 on the Saturday, should be awesome!

See you soon!
