Everything about this is just beautiful. I especially love the image of the snow lantern, and Sean's acknowledgement that he is missing his daughters, that there are people outside of Viggo that he cares about very much. I just love this whole story. Lovely.

This story evokes such vivid images of the land and sea and sky, so stark and beautiful.

Viggo’s feet are cold against his own, he has been dawdling in the bathroom, the cold tiles leaving their imprints on his skin.

In the morning there will be fern frost on the window panes where their moans have cooled off during the night.

A gentle and lovely tale, snapshots of their moments together during this welcomed and rare escape. Lovely.

I was curious from the very first lines who Jesper is. (Their dog, I assume?) And I certainly know the hell of a wonky Skype connection. ^_^

On the very first day up here in the north of Jutland they have visited the coast in Skagen, where the Northern Sea meets the Baltic Sea; the sky overcast and the wind ice cold.
It sounds very much like the kind of place Viggo would want to go to. A really beautiful image, and it seems as if there's a whole weight of tradition and memories to the place for him.

This is quite a peaceful introspective piece. I like how obviously in love the two of them are, and I think one of my favourite parts was this image--
the timid winter sun catches in his hair, grey as the mornings, white as the frost.
--Lovely.

I like that Sean is usually in London with his girls during Christmas, even during his busiest times, and I certainly hope he'll be able to make up being missing this time later.

I am very late with replying to this... thank you very much for your lovely comment! I am glad that you enjoyed this! I wasn't really sure about this to begin with because you said you weren't big on schmoop and I think this classifies as schmoop although I tried to tone it down a little. And yes, Jesper is Viggo's dog ;)
