First-time listener here! I really enjoyed the general Avengers squee, and although I am by no means a comics fan, I found your discussion really interesting. I've heard about most of the comics mentioned, from comics savvy friends, but I am definitely re-motivated to check some out.
Speaking of queer comics, I follow Riot Nrrd Comics. It has a very simple, naive style. But all the characters are geeks in their own ways, although the focus is mostly on their queerness, I think. It's very slice-of-teenage-life, but I've come to adore most of the characters so much.
And of course, I am a big fan of Girls With Slingshots, which Jaime mentioned. The comic is fun and great, and also has one of the only out asexual characters (Erin) in any media.
Thanks for the mention of Riot Nrrd Comics. I've been going through the archives and you're right about the simple style but the characters are awesome. I'm really enjoying it so I thought I'd pass on my thanks for sharing!
