While I was collecting drabbles for my massive VIXX drabble dump post, I realised I hadn't posted what I'd written for
kpop_ficcage at the start of the year. It was a fun experience and really made me write.
It's a bit awkward looking at my writing after half a year (who knew six months could change so much D:) but I'll just post them here for posterity.
Title: it's not easy to be me
Fandom: Super Junior
Pairing: None
Rating: G
Word Count: 300 words
Warnings: None
Notes: Just a little something silly written for the prompt, "Were you expecting us to be Superman?"
"Leeteuk-hyung, Siwon's got into the cereal box again," Donghae complains.
"What? Tell him to stop playing around, we're going on stage in fifteen minutes."
"He seems to think he's a superhero this time."
Right on cue, Siwon appears with a red cape tied around his neck, billowing grandly behind him. Leeteuk cranes his head to see where the wind is coming from and spies Ryeowook and Eunhyuk obediently pointing electric fans in his direction. Unfortunately, it means that the places he can prance to are limited by the power sockets. And Leeteuk happens to be right in the line of fire.
"Siwon, are you bullying the dongsaengs again?"
Leeteuk is never buying Fruit Loops again. The last time he got into the cereal, Siwon had believed he was a famous opera singer and proceeded to serenade every single member of SM Town until someone managed to sedate him. Strangely enough, Siwon is the only one ever affected by the sugar high.
"I am the terror that flaps in the night!" he exclaims now, sweeping his cloak out like a bullfighter in the ring.
Leeteuk looks pointedly at Eunhyuk and Ryeowook. "Why are you aiding and abetting his behaviour?" If there's something he has learned as leader, it's that there's never only one way to get things done.
"You don't understand," Ryeowook whispers, terror on his face. "He says he'll steal my lines otherwise."
"And my dance break," Eunhyuk adds.
"Who exactly is the leader in this group again?"
Eunhyuk and Ryeowook look at each other, then at him. "Do you want to try stopping him, then?"
Ten minutes and one black eye later, Leeteuk grabs an eyepatch to wear as an accessory. Siwon keeps the cloak.
The other members look accusingly at him.
"Well," Leeteuk defends, "it fits the concept."
Title: shine you're the light
Fandom: Big Byung
Pairing: Jackson/N
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Word Count: 299
Notes: My usual crack for this pairing, written for the prompt, "The sunlight shines on me like a spotlight."
N is shining. In a sparkly, glowy sort of way. It looks like he might have slathered himself in glitter in honour of the year-end awards show. Jackson wonders why no one stopped him.
Jackson tries to ignore it, but the fourth time he drifts off mid-sentence, distracted by the pretty lights, he decides enough is enough.
He sidles up to Hyuk. "Have you noticed anything strange about N-hyung lately?"
Hyuk squints at where N is posing like a deranged chicken on the red carpet. "Oh, that," he says dismissively. "It's his favourite pose right now. We've tried to talk him out of it but he says it shows off his body well."
"I wasn't talking about his pose," Jackson hisses, but his voice falters again, distracted this time by the sleek lines N's legs cut on the carpet. N shifts into another pose and the lights glance off his body.
"Are you ogling my leader?" Hyuk says suspiciously. "I won't stand for it."
"It's not my fault!" Jackson argues. "He's put something weird on himself! He's… sparkling."
Hyuk's mouth falls open. "That is seriously the cheesiest thing I've ever heard. Well, if you can say something like that without cringing, you have a good chance of winning N-hyung's heart. Go forth and conquer. I wish you luck."
He pats Jackson on the back and sort of shoves him towards N, who smiles at Jackson when he stumbles into him. The wattage goes up and Jackson thinks he might be blinded.
"Hi," N says, or he thinks N says, because all Jackson can see is white light and the vague outline of a moving shape.
There may be violins playing in the background and birds chirping in the air. He swallows.
Jackson did not sign up for this shit.
Title: running empty
Fandom: B.A.P
Pairing: None
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Word Count: 170
Notes: Written for the prompt, "Someone call the doctor, hold me and tell me."
It happened in a rush. No one even realised until Daehyun was falling off the stage.
Overwork and exhaustion, they said. He needs to be checked into emergency.
You need to get back on stage, the company said, calm and cold.
He needs to rest, someone snapped, angry and protective, and oh-that was Youngjae. In some distant corner of his mind, Daehyun was sorry for worrying Youngjae all the time. Especially recently, with their schedule running them ragged and their main vocal straining to hit the high notes he never had a problem with before. Youngjae offered to cover him, but he couldn't force that on him...
There's a stage tonight, and the fans are waiting, they insisted. The fans-
The fans, he thought. He needed to do it for the fans. He tried to lift his hand, he tried to whisper an answer.
And if you don't, the voices said, turning ominous, we'll add it to damages done against the company.
"Give me the IV drip," he rasped.
Title: a doll without words
Fandom: VIXX
Pairing: None
Rating: G
Warnings: Angst - pretty heavy angst by my standards D:
Word Count: 192
Notes: Written for the prompt, "You're just a toy that was in last season."
"That one, I think." The Voice chose and never took back what it had said. "It fits well with the other five. Fix them and make sure they can perform."
So the servants stitched them up, plastered them with a concept and strung them up so that they could dance together, six puppets perfectly in sync.
"This one is missing a leg." He hurt it performing, the servants whispered. "Get him a new one."
It didn't fit quite well and forced the puppet to make an awkward wobble when he walked, but he wouldn't have argued anyway. He had forgotten how.
They carried on.
Jaehwan used his voice to sing genres he didn't care for. Taekwoon was forced out of his shell to talk, to smile, to be with people. Hakyeon performed the same routines over and over, not realising that every repetition was killing his raw, instinctive love for dance. Wonshik wrote songs with notes that would perpetuate the sad cycle. Sanghyuk had never known better.
And on and on the lights shone, and they sang and danced under them, and they were shining and beautiful and blank. As dolls should be.
Title: pterodactyl ambush
Fandom: VIXX
Pairing: None
Rating: G
Warnings: Fluffff :) Pointless fluff.
Word Count: 215
"Oh my god."
"What?" Hakyeon snaps irritably, because he's not in the mood. He crawled in late last night from drama filming and has to drag himself up this morning for yet another variety schedule, and it's the absolute worst time to entertain a hyper Jaehwan. Even if he makes a good roommate at other times.
Jaehwan's voice is hushed. "Are those… dark circles?"
"Don't act like you don't have them too," Hakyeon says, wounded. He lifts anxious fingers to palpate the area underneath his eyes.
Jaehwan watches him critically. "No offence, but they're really bad."
"You try having back-to-back variety appearances."
"I would, but everyone's tired of my pterodactyl impersonations." Jaehwan pouts, then bounds over and lays his hands on Hakyeon's shoulders. "Let me give you a massage! Our hardworking leader."
Hakyeon melts and gives in faster than he would like to admit. It turns out that even leaders need neck massages.
"You need to take care of yourself, too," Jaehwan says reproachfully, kneading a knot out of Hakyeon's neck. "Even if you're the only one bringing the good name of VIXX out to the uninitiated hoards."
Jaehwan prattles on for a good five minutes. It's only when he gets a snore for an answer that he realises Hakyeon is well and truly asleep.
