For my sanity and organizational zen, I'm going to try to put together a full list of everyone that I know is coming next weekend - split into rooming groups where known. We didn't meet our room block by the September 18th deadline and I reserved all extra rooms under my name for Saturday night only. Anyone who would like one of those should call ( Read more... )

It turns out I am not going to be available on Saturday except *maybe* Saturday night after 8 or so, but I can go out or something on Friday night. :/ (But I'm not in a room, so I don't know if that matters...)

eta: I should ask, is there a time in the evening when it's required that I leave the hotel? I know I can't sleep there overnight, but can I still be over there in the evening?

It's kind of flexible, but I'd say maybe 11pm or midnight. It would only become a problem if we got in trouble with the hotel for causing too much noise, but somehow I don't think that will be you. Just whenever you are free, give one of us a call and you can join up with us wherever we are.

Ha, no, I can be quiet as a mouse! I wouldn't want to leave insanely late anyway, as I'd expect to be walking home, and although it isn't far, Westport after around midnight gets very quiet and spooky.

Do you know how far away you might go on Saturday? If I'm walking, and you decide to go to Overland Park... ;p

Also, do you have anything happening on Sunday afternoon-ish?

I'm sad I can't do much of Saturday, but other plans happened all of a sudden--free Ren Fest tickets + this guy who's a friend of mine needing some cheering up = a third trip to the fest bringing him with me this time. And the 10th is absolutely the only day that can happen--I'm going to a juggling festival on the 3rd and a friend's birthday party on the 17th, and after that the fest is over. AAAAH OCTOBER NEEDS MORE DAYS.

Do you only ever go to ren fest on Saturdays? And I have no idea where we're going to be when, but there will be a few of us hanging around on Sunday and you're welcome to join us. And I didn't think Westport ever got quiet on a Saturday night. Besides, we're not going to let you walk home alone that late. Somebody can give you a ride.

I am taking Ruby to and from the airport.
I'm not sure what time her flights other than Fri night around 9ish and Monday. Anyone else who needs a ride is welcome to my taxi service!

Since you're our big traveler for the weekend, you get what you want on the touristy bits. I'd say that at some point over the weekend we have to take you for barbeque - because you can't come to Kansas City and not try that. Perhaps Saturday during the day we can drive over to Oklahoma Joe's. Our hotel is a few blocks from the Plaza, which is an upscale shopping district. It's fun to wander in nice weather and oogle the architecture style, fountains and statuary - so that's pretty much a definite. Plus the KC Zombie Walk is Saturday morning on the Plaza and I know Mijan wants to do that, so perhaps we can do double duty on that one. Westport is also close by, and that's more of a young and mid-range adult playground with coffee houses, shops, restaraunts and bars. Perhaps dinner at One-80 or sushi down in Westport. Mijan is also wanting to hit up a drag show at some point, but Saturday is the big night of geeky, so maybe Sunday night? I took Monday off, just in case. Do you like beer/brewing science? There will be BBQ, oh yes. Brewery tours are all filled for this weekend, and apparently the next 8 weeks out. American Royal probably has a lot to do with that one. Bummer.

If you've not been to a drag show before, then this one definitely gets short-listed. There's one pretty much every night that you're here, so we'll fit one in for sure.

Hi, I'm Chibi, I'm a friend of jelliclekat's. I would seriously love to join you guys at some point this weekend, but I live in Topeka and don't have the scratch for a hotel room, especially for multiple nights. Is there an itinerary, perhaps, so I can find the opportune moments to join the festivities? :D

No solid plans, but there's a handful that want to go to the Zombie Walk on Saturday at 2pm while some others will go be touristy at that time. Otherwise, there's probably some drinking and eating and hanging out. Mostly you just got to pick when you want to be here and join us for whatever we're doing at the time.
