iPad or not?

So.... Apples new iPad is out in Australia at the end of April. No word of prices. But the rumours are between $600 - $1000 (as opposed to USA $400 - $800). The big problem I'm facing is... Do I want one? At this point in time, yes I do, but I'm not entirely sure. Yes it would be awesome to have, and yes they're cheaper then the MacBook pro. But I' ( Read more... )

I ordered a MacBook Pro + iPod touch on Friday (back to school rebate deal so technically I'm paying about $160 for a 32GB iTouch). So... I suppose I'll be kindof getting the semi-best of both worlds (except I can't use the iTouch as a phone) but nothing in-between (iPad), haha.

My first thought was to get a macbook pro. but they're expensive, and I've never really been a fan of laptops. The main reason I want and macbook/ipad is so I can sit in front of my tv, or in bed, or at my friends house and write. I know I could get a PC laptop, but I'm so over all things bill gates and windows. I'm completely in love with my iphone, and the sheer fact that the ipad is bigger and offers more (like iBooks.... OMG e-book reader killer) and iworks programs..... it's pure love.... I just don't know if my love is worth approx $1000 at the moment, especially with the fact I've just paid $650 for a trip to melbourne in June.

I hate Windows, haha. The only sort of PC laptop I'd consider buying would be one of those tiny netbooks (they're quite cheap!) and I'll get a nerd friend of mine to hack and install a Mac OS on it, purely because I've only ever owned Apple laptops and I don't think I can handle using a Windows (lame and spoilt of me, I know)! iWork is a fantastic program and it's cool that you like it, because I know a lot of Apple fans who actually don't! Ah, who needs Powerpoint when you have Keynote :)

I'm most excited about the different comic book viewing apps that will be available. I have a friend that has nearly every comic book ever as digital comic books. =D That would be awesome.

i dont know what to think of this device. like i dont know much about it so i am wary of spending money on it. i think it will be handy, but i still love my laptop and i'm more a PC person than a Mac.

i guess the questions to ask yourself are: how much will i use it? & will i just replace it in a few months to a year with something better?

answers: 1) i think i'll use it a lot. it's an ebook, a tv, a music player, you can access the internet.... and my friend has 1000s of ebooks already so i won't have to buy any, and i can use it to view comic books.... in full colour... 2) i'm not sure about the replacement.... i don't think Apple has even thought that far a head =D

I'm a PC person too, but i'm over the constant bombardment of viruses (even with up to date virus protection) and windows is just so damned ANNOYING =D

by the way.... is that Doctor Spencer Reid in your userpic??????

no it was doctor house, but i have a love affair with Spencer Reid. he's my make-believe FBI boyfriend. lol.

the more i see that iPad, the more i want one, but i think i am going to wait a LONG while for them to come out with cheaper models and for them to get any kinks or bugs outta the software. that's what i did with my iPhone and iPod, and i'm SO pleased with their costs and the performance of the devices.

have you made a choice on getting one or not? i'm behind in my LJing.

I'm not going to make a decision until I actually have a price and release date. I have enough money for one, but at the moment the site just says Late April.... but it's almost late April. I think I will get one. My mum said that she wants one, so I might buy the cheapest version, and then when the 3G version comes out she can have mine.
Apple are actually pretty good now, when it comes to kinks and bugs, I got one of the first iPhone 3GS when they came to Australia and they're fine, but since I'm in Australia, usually the bugs are sorted out before the Australian release date =D
