Source: Infinite Undiscovery
Name: Capell
Age: 17
Weight: Uh, slightly below the typical weight for a 17 year old boy. He's a little under-fed, but healthy enough.
Height: 5'7" *
Eyes: Reddish brown
Hair: Same
Medical Info: Again, a little underweight, but healthy. Is "light on his feet" and (somehow) good at fighting.
Physical Traits: Capell is bad at eye contact. If you're having a conversation and he's explaining something to you, unless you're good friends and he's comfortable around you, expect him to either be facing away from you, looking at the floor, or both. He also touches his head a lot, especially when he's nervous, uncomfortable, or embarrassed. So, constantly. Capell is a nervous fidgeter, sways on his feet, shifts, clenches and unclenches his hands when he has to stand still.
Capell is extremely reactive. He'll look surprised when he's surprised, happy when he's happy, and like the world's most miserable puppy when he's sad. He's an absolutely miserable liar (except for one or two really important things) and you could basically read his thoughts like a book with 50pt font, even if you have no psychic ability whatsoever.
Less of a physical trait, but more of a verbal tic: Besides being hesitant, Capell can also be extremely...frank. He's not rudely blunt or anything, but if you're being a dick and not obviously taller or stronger than he is, he'll call you on it. Just...like, tossing it out there. Also, IU has an interesting tendency to have people substitute "real" in for really, but it's...not consistent. So, sometimes Capell with do that as well.
What's Okay To Mention Around Him: Pretty much anything. He probably wont have anything witty to add to a meta conversation, and will probably get both "??" and ":((" if you tell him he isn't real, but in general, anything he doesn't understand will just get a lot of blank looks.
Abilities:
Bard: Capell is a traveling minstrel (a flautist) but as of yet has little renown and no glory. The flute does, however, grant him useful abilities, as such:
Precipitere: Allows Capell (and party members) to see through illusions, find hidden objects, and makes the invisible visable. I want to have a reason to use this in camp.
Prudentiae: Area-effect song, cancels lunaglyph (magic) spells or effects. If Capell has just one HAX move, this is it. It...does exactly what it says it does -- cancel magic. Since it is the only real strategy for surviving his game's rapiest optional boss and her meteor/dragon slave caliber attack, it's clearly pretty effective at it, too. All of Capell's songs effect a set diameter of space around him, with him as the center -- Prudentiae has a maybe ten foot radius, so it's big enough to shelter the rest of his party as well. The one thing that makes this less god-mode is that Capell can be interrupted from playing when physically hit with a non-magic projectile, and there's nothing stopping anyone from running up and just clubbing him in the head while he plays, either.
Placare: A song which, when played in crowded area, has the potential of earning some money. AKA THE HOOKER SONG |D
Fortuna: Luck up!
Capell has a few other songs as well, but they are higher level and not gained until later; I might add them at a later date
Fighting: For not liking danger, Capell is "surprisingly good with a sword", according to the booklet. This is still disc-one Capell, so he is not yet insanely leveled or anything, but he can hold his own against random encounters and low-level midbosses.
Connect: Capell can "connect" to his friends to utilize their skills; this includes using specific battle actions, or connect-only skills like lock picking, rope throwing, talking to animals, or bear riding. Again, I want to have some reason to use this in camp.
Unblessed: This is actually an anti-ability. Bascially it means Capell is completely unable to utilize his world's magic system, which is used for just about everything, from healing to cooking to blacksmithing to writing to-- yeah, pretty much everything.
Notes for the Psychics: Capell's a pretty straightforward kid, and doesn't lie or mislead people often. There's probably a few remaining sore points about his childhood, mainly coming off as a general distrust of people and anti-social awkwardness.
Capell also has some small anger issues/panic about being an unblessed, but this wont come up unless someone really pushes it. Unblesseds aren't particularly rare (about 1/28th of the population is born one; less than that as an active population however), but they are viewed as bad luck and are often exiled and persecuted, if not outright killed at birth (depending on the laws of the country they're born in). As such, Capell is pretty used to taking abuse for it, and will probably go out of his way to not mention it outright.
Can I shapeshift/bodyswap/spit at/step on/etc?: Yes/ yes/ he's used to it :(.
Maim/Murder/Death: Capell avoids fighting when he can, but still stands up for what is right, and will help out if he sees people in danger. If you pick a fight for no reason, he'll probably try and stay out of it, but he'll fight back if pushed. He's a video game character, so he saves, but please talk to me if you want to kill the poor kicked puppy.
Hugging/Kissing/Other Non-violent contact:Go for it! Watch him alternately make :0 face and squirm! At game-time canon, Capell has been hugged exactly twice in his lifetime! He seems to think it feels pretty awesome.
Cooking: Unblessed. He can however connect to other people and make them cook for him. ;3
Jumping: Please! Capell is not really outgoing, but I love being jumped, and he'll make puppy faces at you.
*The official booklet claims that Capell is 5'10". However, I am of the opinion that they bumped this number up for the American (Xbox playing) crowd; while 5'7" is a fairly standard, acceptable height for a Japanese video game hero, it's not terribly tall for a standard American male. Comparing to party members, Edward is supposed to be 6'0" tall, and Aya is supposed to be 5'3" (your mage is then 6'3". YOUR MAGE)-- the game is fairly good at comparible heights in-game, and putting the characters next to each other, there is no way the minimal difference between Aya and Capell's heights is equal to seven inches, when the much greater difference between Capell and Edward is only two. Therefore, I have removed the extra padding from Capell's height. I hope this does not put anyone off, but it annoys me that they are inconsistant like this.
Should we ever get a Sigmund, I will want to talk to the mun about that, because Sigmund and Capell are the same height. (Removing the padding does make Sigmund the bittiest, cutest little liberator ever, which appeals to me but might not to others.
