1. Jewel--Pieces of You
This was my very first CD. I was eight or maybe nine and her videos were always on VH1. I became addicted very quickly, and how could I not? It was friggin Jewel!
I have many memories of that CD being played during family road trips. Unfortunately, the poor thing eventually became old and much too abused, but there was no way I could part with it so I went out and bought a new copy.
2. Spice Girls--Spice
My second CD ever. Do I even need to elaborate on this? I mean, it's the Spice Girls! Come on. They ruled my preteens, and I still give in to urges to listen to them now. My sister and I spent many Friday and Saturday nights singing along to them in our bedroom... with our parents yelling down the hall for us to shut the hell up and go to bed.
3. AFI--Art of Drowning
Still one of my favorite CDs, listening to this album when I was thirteen changed my views on music completely. As a youngin' I listened to NSYNC, Bakstreet Boys, Spice Girls, etc. When I was twelve I moved on to Blink 182, Sum 41, and Linkin Park. Then my friend Manuel introduced me to the amazing Mr. Davey Havok.
I'll admit that I have become highly disappointed with their growing trendiness, but only because their new fans seem to take no interest in their older CDs and I find that to be a terribly sad thing. But I still love them and probably always will.
(And Hunter playing bass on Tegan and Sara's new CD, The Con? Sooo much love.)
4. Original London Cast--Phantom of the Opera
(My mom actually had this on cassette, but a music playing device is a music playing device.) My mom took me to see the Phantom of the Opera in San Francisco when I was six years old. Not only did I fall in love with musicals and theater, but I also fell in love with the story. (Read the book by Gaston Leroux!) I listened to the tapes over and over and over again until my mom took them away from me. I still have them. I no longer have a tape player (and even if I did, the quality would be awful), but I can't stand to part with them.
5. Kidney Thieves--Zerospace
Never heard of them? I'm not surprised. They came out with two CDs (Trickster and Zerospace) then broke up a few years back. They never gained much popularity, but damnit, they rocked my high school goth phase. I still listen to them sometimes and my friend Vicky makes fun of me, but I can't help it. There will always be a little bit of my goth side still inside of me (and it's captured forever in my driver's license photo).
6. Tegan and Sara--The Con
Which one of their CDs is my favorite really depends on my mood, and The Con happens to be it right now. Actually, The Con has been hogging that spot a lot since it came out. Anyway, I love Tee and Ess. All of their CDs before this one have all been different when compared to each other, but the songs on each CD are all similar to the other songs on that specific album. (Hopefully I'm making sense.) However, The Con goes all over the place. I think that's why I like it so much. Most of the songs can't even be compared to each other. And I'm not just trying to point out the differences between Sara's songs and Tegan's songs, but even the styles of each of their individual songs differ so much. You can't really compare Like O, Like H to Back In Your Head to I Was Married or Are You Ten Years Ago to Soil, Soil to Call It Off.
7. TheStart--Self-titled
(Photobucket just started being a douchebag. Sorry. No more cover pictures.)
I could dance to this CD until I died of exhaustion. Enough said.
8. Morrissey--Bona Drag
I had such a hard time trying to pick one of his CDs (which is why I picked two, but that was still hard). My amazing best friend Vicky got me into Morrissey, and I adore him.
9. Morrissey--Viva Hate
Read #8
10. Draco and the Malfoys--Self-titled
I finally got both of their CDs in the mail today.
Alright, maybe they haven't changed my life, but I still love them.
Okay, sorry the last few explanations are seriously lacking in content, but I'm effing tired.
And sorry that Photobucket started being a douchebag at #7.
I tag... anyone who wants to do it.
Yeah, I'm boring like that.
