Yes, that's a good thing - especially since Billy in S4 actually became one of my favourites, in fact, I liked him more than I had liked Mickey. So it's definitely adaptable in that regard.
I once had a very vivid dream, in which Robert Glenister played/was a Who-villain. *g* I think that would work astoundingly well. I'm sure he could pull off the Doctor, as well, but he plays great bad guys.
I sure do - for some reason I cannot see him in DW. I can't quite pinpoint why... Gene, State of Play, Clockin g Off, somehow I cannot take his performances there and parse them on the Doctor.
I really want David Walliams to do a one-off turn in DW - he's a really versatile actor and I can see him as a bizarre baddie just as well as some weird alien.
BTW, did you see the pilot for Being Human? Supposedly, there's going to be a series, but if Hustle returns I guess Adrian Lester won't be chief baddie there, then.

One is that since Hustle isn't character driven, it's less of a problem to slot new cast in.
Second, secondary thought : a Glenister brother as the Doctor in the future ??
