Without dismissing Rebcake’s version as unrealistic, your take on how Buffy and Spike might have run into each other in L.A. comes across as more plausible … or, at the least, more suitable to the characters as we know them. And Spike’s snarling response to Buffy’s throwaway comment about Drusilla is dead on as far as characterization. I wouldn’t mind seeing this carried out further.

Thanks! It was a bit of a last minute response -- I accidentally deleted my email with the prompt and had to request it be sent again on the day the fics were due -- so it did end up being shorter than I'd have liked. I'm glad to know the characters seemed true to you -- this is my first time writing even subtext-y het for Buffy at all, I'm usually a femslash writer, so Buffy and Spike banter's not something I've really done. (This is really more pre-Buffy/Spike but the original fic had more undertones, so...)
