Oh, yeah. This happened last year, and I got space heaters, so I've been living off them for a while :)

My boiler blew up last year a week after I moved into my flat and it was freezing! Thankfully my appendix blew up the next day so I spent all the time with a broken boiler in hospital out of my head on morphine.
