50 Things
Title: 50 Things Gerard/Mikey Style (terrible title. whatever.)

1. Comfort.
"Shhh, Gee," Mikey whispered into his older brother's hair. Gerard was clinging to him, the remnants of a nightmare still terrorizing him. His head buried in the crook of the bassist's neck, he thought that his lover faintly smelled of soap, hotel sheets, and comfort. There in his brother's arms, he never wanted to let go.
2. Kiss.
Mikey backed away from his brother in shock, and Gerard smiled. "It wasn't just for show, baby brother, it wasn't all just playing..."
3. Soft.
Satin skin, cotton sheets, gentle touches, butterfly kisses. Every night in their bedroom was the epitome of soft. With Mikey wrapped in Gerard's arms, he figured he wouldn't have it any other way.
4. Pain.
Every night Mikey was away, there was an empty half of Gerard's bed. He never crossed the imaginary line they'd set up - half for him, half for his little brother. The cold spot on the bed was the cold that filled his heart every night he slept without Mikey.
5. Potatoes.
Gerard was the one that always cooked. Mikey was glad - with his luck, he'd burn the whole house down. Gerard always told him that when he tried to help, but Mikey never really took it to heart.
6. Rain.
Mikey liked the rain. He was the one that always sat outside, letting the rain fall onto his glasses and soak him through. This time, though, Gerard went out with him. Always the artist, Gerard saw the spring shower as a cleansing of everything that was in the path of the drops... including them. They would be made perfect together.
7. Chocolate.
The day after any major holiday, Gerard and Mikey would each grab a couple of dollars and go to the nearest drugstore or grocery store; buying whatever holiday candy they could on clearance. It usually lasted them at least a week, but they had major cravings sometimes.
8. Happiness.
"I like it when you smile," Mikey murmured into his brother's ear in the middle of a hug. "It suits you better than a frown."
9. Telephone.
Every night when Mikey was away, just before heading to bed, Gerard would try to call him. Even if he didn't answer (which he didn't, usually), he'd still leave a voicemail. Just in case.
10. Ears.
"Gerard, Easter or not, never wear this fucking bunny suit again," Mikey laughed.
11. Name.
Mikey was researching names online (since he had nothing better to do for the day), and came across Gerard's. Germanic for "brave spear". True in more ways than one, he snickered to himself.
12. Computer.
"Gerard," Mikey whined. "You're at level cap already, shut World of Warcraft down!"
"Go away, Mikes," the older one laughed. "I promise, one more quest and I'll come to bed."
13. Death
"Hey Mikey, when you die, what do you think Death will come for you as?" Gerard suddenly asked.
"If it's a parade," the younger brother replied, "I'm gonna blame you."
14. Sex.
"No regrets?" whispered the older brother, linking his fingers with the younger one.
"None," Mikey panted, wrapping his legs around Gerard's waist.
15. Touch.
Every time Mikey moves in his sleep, he brushes against Gerard, and it worries him... until he realizes that he's still sound asleep. Gee runs a gentle hand through his hair and smiles, comforted some.
16. Weakness.
Gerard was always so sure that the only thing that got him through the spell of nightmares at the Paramour was Mikey being there to hold onto him.
17. Tears.
Gerard could taste the salt as he leaned over to kiss his brother's cheek. "Mikey, please. It'll be for the best. I'll try to call you and everything... but it's better that you go."
18. Speed.
Mikey was never a great runner, but when he beat Gerard across the lawn to the car, Gerard simply shrugged. "It's about time you beat me at something, right?"
19. Wind.
As they waited for Frankie to pick them up on his way over, Mikey stood in between the wind and Gerard. He didn't mind, after all, it wasn't that cold...
20. Freedom.
Mikey being away was bittersweet. Gerard had more time to spend to himself... and he hated it. He hated his little brother not being at his side all the time. It felt freer, but emptier.
21. Life.
Gerard was glad Mikey was his brother. It meant they were stuck together forever.
22. Jealousy.
Every time Mikey would beat Gerard at video games, he would be a little green. But when Gerard wanted to skip out on Mikey to hang out with Bert? That was irritating.
23. Hands.
Mikey's were rough, callused from playing bass. Gerard's were bony, but soft. When they touched, it was magic.
24. Taste.
Mikey tasted something coppery when he kissed Gerard's cheek; but that was to be expected, blood wasn't the greatest taste. It was more bitter, it seemed, when it came from his brother.
25. Devotion.
It was the third night of bad dreams for Gerard. Mikey promised to stay in his room from then on, just in case he needed him.
26. Forever.
Mikey knew exactly the way to twist two of those black rubber bracelets together so that they looked like a knot. Gerard always wore it, it was a good reminder of how long they'd be together.
27. Blood.
Believe it or not, Mikey got squeamish sometimes when he looked at Gerard's art. Gerard promised to put it away if it disturbed him too much.
28. Sickness.
"Mikey, I feel awful," Gerard groaned. Less than five minutes later, Mikey was in his room with a bowl of soup. Sure, it smelled like the kitchen was burning down, but it was the thought that counted, right?
29. Melody.
Famous Last Words was for Mikey. Gerard found himself humming it often as his brother approached.
30. Star.
"They're so cold," Mikey whispered as he and Gerard lay on their roof one night. "As much as you reach out, you'll never be able to touch them or hold them. They're always watching over you, but they're so far away..." Gerard liked these random deep bits coming from his little brother.
31. Home.
Jersey was where they'd grown up together. They expected they would grow old there, too.
32. Confusion.
When the girls rushed them, Mikey lost Gerard, and he spent half an hour trying to relocate him. Gerard was in the bus the entire time.
33. Fear.
It scared Gerard to think about what would happen to Mikey if he were to die. Mikey assured him that they'd go down together.
34. Lightning/Thunder.
Storms were always fun for the brothers. They'd sit on the front lawn and mock the lightning.
35. Bonds.
"Um, Mikey?" Gerard pulled at the cuffs holding his wrists to the headboard. "They're a bit tight."
36. Market.
Gerard hated shopping for fruits and vegetables, so Mikey always went to the farmers' thing they had in the fall. He liked seeing everything that the people had worked so hard to make.
37. Technology.
Mikey was always listening to Gerard's iPod. Gerard complained a little, but didn't really mind.
38. Gift.
Gerard always made Mikey's birthday special, with one big gift hidden until the end of the day.
39. Smile.
Everything about Gerard's baby brother was contagious, from the colds he had to his smile. Especially his smile.
40. Innocence.
"Innocent baby brother my ass," Gerard laughs as Mikey leads him to the hotel room.
41. Completion.
The record was done. They could get out of Paramour. Gerard could stop having nightmares, and Mikey didn't have to live away from Gerard. It was a happy time.
42. Clouds.
Mikey once asked what it would be like to fly through a cloud. Gerard's response was "Very wet."
43. Sky.
Mikey would drag Gerard out to watch the sunset. Gerard went to see the sky turn blood red.
44. Heaven.
Gerard maintained the mindset that Mikey was his angel. Then Mikey would smirk at him and he'd think, Okay. Fallen angel, then.
45. Hell.
Mikey knew they would burn for what they did. They'd laugh as the flames danced around them.
46. Sun.
Gerard knew that Mikey would bake if they went to the beach during Warped. They opted for a movie instead.
47. Moon.
Mikey loved watching the moon rise and set. Gerard thought it was cute.
48. Waves.
Gerard tossed Mikey into an oncoming wave, and Mikey figured that hell, he was gonna get wet anyway.
49. Hair
"I liked the 'emo kid' look better," Gerard stated when Mikey asked what he thought of his new hair.
50. Supernova
Mikey liked that description of their relationship. It exploded, and it had to cool. When it would, however, was yet to be seen.
