Author Notes: So there I was watching TV and the dentine ice ad comes on and I say, "that would be a cute story" so I wrote it. The song is by Ben's Brother.

"Ok Class, for the weekend you need to do problems 2-17, 19-24, and 28-30." The teacher goes on and on about making sure we have all our work shown and more stuff that I don't give a shit about. I just want to get out of this hellhole they call school.
"H-H-H-Hey R-Ross! G-G-G-Got a-a-a b-b-big weekend c-c-c-coming upppp?" Some stupid jock and his buddies joke behind me as I put my notebook into my backpack. I guess I should explain why they are talking like that. Ever since the moment I could talk, I've had a stutter. A severe one. And for some reason they thing that just because I can't talk, I must be retarded. I, Ryan Ross, am not retarded. I probably have the one of the highest IQ's in the class. I'm used to it by now though. It's been happening for my whole life. The beatings, the slanders, the tripping me in the hall. It's all shit that I deal with. That is until I met Brendon. God, that boy is my hero.
I met Brendon in eighth grade. His family moved in across the street from mine and for the first time in my life someone treated me like a normal person. He didn't make fun, he didn't talk down to me, he was just nice.

"BRRRRIIINNNNGGGG" the bell sounds through the school. I hurriedly get out of my seat and to the door, heading for Brendon’s locker and mine.

"Hey, Ry!" I hear his cheery voice before I even see him though the crowd of people.

"H-Hey, B-B-Bren" I spit out.

"Need anything out of the locker before I shut it?" He puts his hand on the door ready to slam it like he likes to.

"G-Go f-for it-t" I gesture with my hand. The locker makes a loud bang, earning a few head turns and the select mutter of "freaks".

"Wanna come over and play Halo 3!! Please! Please! Please!" he bounces on the tips of his toes, which makes me giggle.

"Y-yeah."

"YAA!" he grabs my hand and drags me down the hallway and out the door.

"J-Jesus B-b-bren, s-slow do-down!" I pant.

"Oh fine" He slows to a walk and releases my hand.

"S-s-so h-how was-s yo-your day?" I ask kicking a small rock along the ground as we walk to his house.

"Eh." he sruggs his shoulder "As good as it can be I guess. We got our quizzes back in Bio. and I got a F"

"B-brendon! Y-you c-can't f-f-fail b-biology!" I stop walking to look at him

"Sheesh Ryan, you sound like my mother" he says giggling "Don't worry, the teacher said I could do a worksheet for some extra credit." I breathe a sigh of relief.

We walk in comfortable silence for a while, each of us just enjoying the crisp fall day until Brendon breaks it.

"You know, my mom told me about this really interesting article she read this morning." He says as we're almost to my house.

"W-what w-was it-t ab-b-bout?" I prod.

"Well, there was this guy who had a stutter and one day the love of his life kissed him and the stutter went away." He stops walking when we get to the sidewalk in front of my house and looks at me "What do you think about that?"

"I-I th-think t-that th-that m-man is-s lucky" I say not quite sure where he is going with this.

"Don't you think it could happen?" I think for a little before answering.

"N-no." when I say it his face drops "Do-o yo-you?" he doesn't say anything, but moves forward and places his hands on either side of my face. Then in one quick movement, he presses his lips to mine and moves back to read my expression. I stand there for a few seconds trying to process what just happened before I turn and start to walk fast to my door. Before I shut the door I hear him whimper behind me and I know he's crying.

I walk into the living room and curl up on the couch bringing my knees to my chest. So many questions were racing through my head. I just wanted to go back 5 minutes to where Brendon and me were just walking down the street, being friends. A few tears start to roll down my cheeks as I drift off to sleep from stress.

***

When I wake up my mom is standing over me. "Ryan, what’s wrong? Why aren’t you over at Brendon's?"

"I wasn’t feeling good after school, so I just came home to rest" I sit up from the couch and go to the kitchen for a drink. My mom follows me in.

"You sure, you ok?" she steps behind me as I raise the glass to my lips.

"Mom, I'm fine real-" and that’s when it hits me. I drop the glass and it lands with a loud shatter on the floor.

"Ryan!" my mom yells but I don't pay attention. I run as fast as I can through the front door and across the street. I bang on Brendon's door with both fists until he opens it with red puffy eyes.

"Ry, I can-," he starts to talk but I cut him off.

"Kiss me again," I say stepping closer pushing him back inside and shutting the door behind me.

"What?" he looks a little more then surprised.

"It worked Brendon! Only you can stop my stuttering!" I beam and press my body flush to his. "So kiss me," I whisper. His smile is wider then I’ve ever seen as he moves in and connects our lips for a passionate kiss. After a few minuets the need for oxygen becomes to great and we break away from each other. Brendon wraps his arms around my waist. "I love you," he says looking into my eyes.

"I love you too," I place another small kiss on his plump lips and rest my head on his shoulder.

"I'm gonna miss your cute little stutter" he kisses the top of my head "but I think this is a fair trade."
