Lolo planted this thing.  In a cup.   Clearly pre-school didn't know what to do with it because they sent it home.   Without identifying what type of plant it is.  For all I know it's going to grow bigger and eat me ( Read more... )

It's usually a bean or sprouts. It'll be ok. Zoë got an onion to grow. Everything has run is course so we got her some lucky bamboo. :)

My answer is the same as it is with most things... if you even have to ask the question, toss it.

I am big on purging tho. Not that you can tell from the current state of my house.

i say let it grow bigger and then transplant it to a larger pot. if it's edible eat it, if it grows, keep it. it'll be cool for lolo to watch it.

A picture would help. I'm with bklynwebgrrl that it's usually beans or marigolds or something equally easy to sprout.

My best advice - find a friend with a nice big yard and plant it in a sunny corner. Pre-school plants usually need lots of sun and wither on a windowsill.

But seriously, if you posted a picture I could possibly ID it for you.

If it's anything like the multiple plants I brought home in grade school, it's a bean sprout and it'll die on you in a couple of weeks anyway.
