1) Was 2009 a good year for you?
The first half was pretty terrible. The second half, however? Generally pretty awesome.
2) What was your favorite moment of the year?
My best friend and I went to go see Fall Out Boy while I was in the States, at the Blink-182 show, and afterwards we went to Steak & Shake and had milkshakes and ate junk food and talked and it was just like old times and amazing. That was a pretty awesome moment.
3) What was your least favorite moment of the year?
Although summer was generally pretty awesome, overall, worst moment has to be the day when two of my close friends decided they were no longer talking to me. That was pretty fucking terrible.
4) Where were you when 2009 began?
In my old apartment in HUB mall, curled up on my old couch, watching movies, eating cake and drinking wine. Quiet, but nice.
5) Who were you with?
By myself. That was pretty much the first half of 2009.
6) Where will you be when 2009 ends?
In my new, awesome apartment, that is not a souless pit of despair.
7) Who will you be with when 2009 ends?
My mom, although she'll probably be asleep. But I'll be content in the knowledge that she's nearby. Possibly my awesome neighbours, who often have little parties at their place, but who knows.
8) Did you keep your new years resolution of 2009?
I don't remember. I don't think I made one.
15) Did you breakup with anyone in 2009?
Nope.
16) Did you make any new friends in 2009?
Yeah, absolutely.
17) Who are your favorite new friends?
I really loved all of the people I met in my queer literature class this year. They were awesome. Um, this sort of counts, but in the past year, I've gone from just sort of being the random kid hanging around my piercing shop to getting hugs from Ryan, so there's that. He's not new though, he was my favourite person last year, too.
18) What was your favorite month of 2009?
December, hands down. My mom is here, my roommates are awesome, I have plans with Ryan for the new year, my dad actually came home for Christmas, which was awesome, and pretty much nothing bad has happened. Did I mention that the whole second half of this year has generally been pretty amazing?
19) Did you go abroad in 2009?
I've been between Canada and the US, but I'm citizens of both, so neither are really "abroad" to me.
20) How many different states did you travel to in 2009?
Saskatchewan, Illinois, Alberta, and Indiana. And I live(d?) in both Alberta and Indiana, so they don't really count. So mostly just Saskatchewan and Illinois. And Saskatchewan is a province. This meme is annoyingly US-centric. Whatever.
21) Did you lose anybody close to you in 2009?
Nobody died, but I did have two close friends decide they wanted nothing to do with me. That was sucky, but I'm getting through it.
22) Did you miss anybody in the past year?
My parents, whenever I'm not at home, or they're not here.
23) What was your favorite movie that you saw in 2009?
The Fall -- not a new one, it came out in 2006, but I saw it this year. It was pretty fucking awesome -- thanks for the recommendation, Pete Wentz.
24) What was your favorite album from 2009?
Oh man, I have no idea. Folie a Deux technically came out at the end of 2008, so it doesn't count. Cobra's Hot Mess was pretty decent overall, but I hesitate to give it the label of "favourite". Oh! Matt Good's new album Vancouver came out this year. That was awesome.
26) How many concerts did you see in 2009?
Just two -- Fall Out Boy's headliner tour, and the Blink-182 show.
27) Did you have a favorite concert in 2009?
Of the two I saw, BND was pretty fucking awesome. So that one, I guess.
28) Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2009?
No, not really. Some wine, some beer. I got totally wasted once, in January, and that was it.
29) Did you do a lot of drugs in 2009?
Again, not really. I smoked some pot, and even then, not at a whole lot of it -- probably a grand total of 10 (shared) joints the whole year, and that was about it.
30) Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year?
I failed a class, that was pretty lame.
32) What was the biggest lie you told in 2009?
Told my mom I passed a class I actually didn't. Eh.
33) What was the worst lie someone told you in 2009?
I don't know of any. What there was was probably pretty minor.
34) Did you treat somebody badly in 2009?
This girl who had a crush on me who I really didn't like.
35) Did somebody treat you badly in 2009?
Some friends, who are no longer friends. We've talked about that.
36) How much money did you spend in 2009?
Too much. I got a new computer, and I pay $500 less rent than I used to, but I'm still completely broke all the time. Where does the money go?
37) What was your most embarrassing moment of 2009?
Whatever it was, I've apparently blocked it from my memory, because I can't think of anything particularly embarassing. I said a few stupid things, I'm sure, but nothing noteworthy,
38.) What is one thing you did in 2009 that you'd never done before?
I saw Fall Out Boy for the first time.
39.) Did someone close to you give birth?
Nope. No new babies here.
40.) What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A job. Yes, a job would be good.
41.) What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I suck at dates. I only remember them for really awful things, and the fact that I have no truly horrid memories should tell you something: overall, it's been a pretty good year.
42.) What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Passing all of my classes this term! Successfully moving into a new apartment without going crazy.
43.) What was your biggest failure?
Fucking up that class last semester.
44.) Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had a pretty terrible stomach flu in the spring -- all I did for a week was puke.
45.) What was the best thing you bought?
My new computer was pretty awesome -- er, both of them, actually. >.> But probably, and this a rental, rather than a buy, my new apartment. It's been a source of a lot of happiness for me these past few months.
46.) Whose behavior merited celebration?
My roommate's. She deserves an award for being so awesome.
47.) Whose behavior made you appalled?
Obama's. Way to not do any of the shit you promised us you'd do.
48.) Where did most of your money go?
Computer stuff, body modification, food.
49.) What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Hopefully getting my new tattoo next year, I'm excited about that right now. Living in this building. Having both my parents visit for Christmas. Having my cat, who was very sick for a couple months, pull through just as healthy as ever.
50.) Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or hardened?
Happier. Much, much happier.
b) thinner or fatter?
Don't know, don't care. It's really not important.
c) richer or poorer?
Richer -- I still spend all my money, but I have more of it to spend! That counts, right?
51.) What do you wish you'd done more of?
Having a life. Doing stuff with people.
52.) What do you wish you'd done less of?
Being depressed and quasi-suicidal. That sucked, but it's over now, and I'm okay. Also, I wish I'd played less Warcraft.
53.) How will you be spending Christmas?
It's over, but I spent it with my family -- my whole family, mom and dad included. That was amazing.
54.) Did you fall in love in 2009?
Nope. I crushed pretty heavily though.
55.) Any one-night stands?
Nope -- still haven't punched my V-card.
56.) What was your favorite TV program?
Criminal Minds, which I started watching this year. Still haven't gotten to this year's season, but whatever, I am enjoying it.
57.) Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nobody I can really think of, actually.
58.) What was the best book you read?
Transmetropolitan. Omfg, brilliance.
59.) What was your greatest musical discovery?
Uh... I dunno?
60.) What did you want and get?
A place to live that I actually enjoy. Medication that actually works. A few really awesome new piercings.
61.) What did wyou ant and not get?
A million dollars and six months in Bermuda. I don't know.
62.) What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I went out for dinner with my aunt and uncle at one of my favourite restaurants. It was good. I turned 22.
63.) What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not much, honestly.
64.) How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Wtf? I don't know. It fits, it's (mostly) clean, and it looks okay?
65.) What kept you sane?
Music, moving out of HUB mall, my medication.
66.) Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Pete Wentz, for sure. Hot piercist Ryan. Oh wait, not a public figure... whatever.
67.) Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.
I'm okay.
