"You *think* you have faith in the process. What you have faith in is your ability to cogitate on a problem, that your mind can figure out the answer to any problem. But when the problem is "yourself* that paradigm falls apart ( Read more... )

lol, and we call this "Mondays" at the dojo. This comment came after I debated with him about whether my inability to do a cartwheel is all mental.

Speaking of, off to take a hot bath... took some pretty hard landings tonight.

Spoken truly like a guru. I can't tell if he's saying you are your own problem (and therefore, you're not ready), or if you're actually ready and over-thinking it.

"The problem is yourself" doesn't really mean my whole self, more like "what about me makes me seek validation. I would put it in the category of what many people call "issues." Make sense?

And I think the next time he implies that I'm not ready I'll be able to reply with no uncertain terms that I *know* I am ready.

Cartwheels might be in your head.. can you do a handstand?

It's kind of similar to the pirouette problem, you just have to consciously not think about it and just throw yourself at it in the expectation that your technique has been drilled sufficiently to do what it should at the right time.

He said that he would see me grimacing while I was upside down, and at that point I would freeze or something and fall over. Arm strength isn't a problem, though he also said I was throwing my shoulders when I really needed to just lean over and kick my legs a bit more rather than trying to get the momentum from my shoulders. I told him I didn't feel like I was afraid or freaking out and he said "just because you don't perceive it doesn't mean it isn't there."

I never was able to do cartwheels as a kid... not that I ever got any honest instruction on them. Ah well, there's always next week, lol
