I believe I'm fitting in quite nicely at the Mistresses house. I work hard and she seems very pleased. Tom is a delightful child, very friendly and polite for his age. A light knock on the door and a trembling whisper. "Matthew, are - are you awake?"

She leans her head on the door, closing her eyes against the screaming nightmare she just had, the second one in two nights.

Matthew wakes upon hearing her voice and calls out.

"Yes Mistress, please come in" He sits up in bed and reaches to turn on the bedside lamp.

Slowly she opens the door, one hand pressing against the wood, the other holding her candle.

Standing there, she blinks at the bright light, looks at him without speaking for a few moments. "Matthew.. " Her voice trembling as much as her body "Could I sleep in here tonight?"

She stares into his eyes for a moment, then looks to the floor, ashamed. "I'm sorry, you deserve your sleep without me interfering."

"Of course you may, Mistress. Are you alright? You are neither interfering or inconveniencing me. It would be an honor. Would you like me to sleep on the floor or would you like to share my bed?"

As he waits for an answer he moves over some for now to make room should she decide to join him.
