So, my guys said I could choose between a netbook and a tablet for my birthday pressie. There was a tablet that I really wanted but it had some serious flaws, so I decided to go with the netbook and hope that their would be a new version of the tablet next year that addressed the flaws ;) Yesterday we went to look at the netbook to get an idea if ( Read more... )

7 hour battery??? Why are netbooks so much better with batteries than normal laptops?? (My laptop is a 2 year old Aspire 7715 and it's battery is broken now that I've used it for 2 years)

It looks like a very pretty netbook. Congrats:D

Yup., 7 hour. It has a 6-cell battery, which is apparently what makes it so much better...I dunno lol. The acer (aspire 5735) laptop I have is about 3 years old and I just replaced the battery as it was down to 15-20mins, it cost £20 to replace from amazon. My first acer had 5hr battery when I got it, which is probably about the max you get for a laptop, I think. The battery was replaced free by acer as it was just within it's 1yr warranty when it had dropped to holding charge for about an hour, the second battery lasted a lot better. I have no clue why netbooks tend to have a better capacity all round though, it's really strange, maybe they have processors that are less energy hungry or something? But then I've seen netbooks that only have 4hr max charge, so *shrugs*.

It's a very cute netbook, thanks :D

Yeah... I've been looking at new batteries. Mine has a capacity of 4400mhz or something but you just reminded me to call a computer store and ask if the battery would last longer if I get more capacity or if that would hurt my laptop. I went from 2 hours to 1 hour without juice.

I think you have to stick with the same kind that's made for your laptop or you risk blowing it up ;) lol. Also, you have to consider that not all batteries will fit, they have different shapes/interlocking parts ;) lol.

Thankies. Hmm, I dunno abt Rodney, s/he doesn't say Rodney to me. I'm not even sure if it's a boy or a girl yet lol Maybe when I've used it a few times?! lol.

Yes, I put this much thought into naming inanimate objects, imagine what I'm like with pets & characters! lol.

Huh, I just realized that I pretty much never name anything inanimate. With regards to pets, some have gotten their names fairly quickly (Oscar was named before we left the pet store) and others have taken longer...

Beverly? ;)

The only things I ever named were stuffed toys and even then I wasn't very creative, hence a dog named Puppy and a cat named Kitty. Yeah. But your comp looks sort of like a Jack to me. Or maybe a Spike. Dunno.
