Honey? that same brand/title/description are going for 299-299 at multiple places on the net. I think whoever claimed they were going for "several thousand" was on something.

Anime Castle

Collector's Edge

The most expensive place I found them for was 600ish...
These guys are crazy

I think there are likely levels of "good" in katanas like I know there are in other swords ( ... )

I generally know the grade of weapons, and how to gage them accurately (or decently, i guess) I'm more thinking about the fact that this is folded steel (which is generally alot more expensive, from my research) Now, I'm not saying these guys (the people who are selling it) aren't freakin nuts, but If it's strong (and believe me, I'm gonna stress test the absolute balls out of it) I'll buy more. I'm looking for strong, sharp weapons that can last in a decent fight (I wouldn't be twanging blades anyway..If I'm being blocked, I've done something wrong.)

No one's charging 'thousands' for the Ryumon/Masahiro (or they shouldn't be); I was more referencing the other forges which produce folded or Damascus style steel like Hanwei, Thaitsuki, Bugei (which often uses Hanwei blades), etc. If the folded steel and fittings of the Ryumon is competitive in quality to the Hanwei or the Last Legend, the price of acquiring a folded steel, battle ready sword just went down *radically*, even if the fittings are not so great. (Even the fittings on the disappointing Masahiro series were more than adequete and in some cases very beautiful, so I don't have too many concerns there.)

This also may push the whole *market* down, which would be awesome, as I feel that forges like Last Legend, etc. are severely overpriced. That makes things a lot more accessable to collectors, who are generally people who don't have a lot of disposable income, believe it or not. :D

I really like the idea of being able to offer someone a decent, functional sword at only slightly above the going price of one of Master Cutlery' ( ... )
