[It's early morning and Buffy is out on some kind of a mission. After all, that tell-tale battle axe is near effortlessly hefted over her shoulder and she has determination on her face. But today is not a day for battle or bloodshed or any of those other squishy and uncomfy words beginning with B. No, today is about something else entirely ( Read more... )

[There's a log on my porch.]

Nice... log, Buff.

[Buffy, who is also on your porch, frowns.] There's usually a difference between a log and a tree, you know. This? This is totally a tree. See its tree-like qualities? The branches?

The branches missing the pine needles?

[You're freaking her out, Kirk. She lifts the tree, only to spot the woefully bedraggled underbelly. That's what she gets for hauling it back on her own. She looks back at the Captain with her own woeful expression.]

You know what this means, right?

Snowflakes. I like ornaments of snowflakes.

I'm thinking...maybe a snowflake stuck up on the very top of the tree? An angel would just be way too far into irony land, given our own feathered appendages.

I think that's perfect for the top!

[Oh, you just bet she does!]

[Time to be bummed out, now.]

But I don't exactly know how I'm gonna get my hands on one. Me? I'm not crafty central.

I'm Christmas inclined... but what's this with the tree? I've only been told that it's a time to get together with friends and give gifts.

What? The tree's an integral part to the whole gift-giving experience. You get a nice tree and you pop it up in your living room and then after it's decorated you put all your presents underneath it to wait for when they'll be opened.

My... that's a lot of work to uproot a tree and plant it indoors...

[Buffy laughs.] Yeah, it would be. Which is why you just chop it down instead.

I actually did manage to find some tree ornaments at the stores actually.

[Oh! Success!]

Really? That's fantastic. Were there many? I mean I don't wanna go taking a bunch and leaving not very many for any other tree-havers.

Well, I took some for my own tree but I think there were still a few boxes left, some are broken though.

Broken? That's...less than ideal.

[Hey, it's an even newer newbie to house 7.]

What's that for?

[Oh hey, Uhura. Buffy looks up from the journal with a quick smile.]

Christmas, of course. Waiting to see if Bones and Spock and Emony are okay with it.

Pine needles, all over the floor? What if someone's allergic?

[She smiles a little.]

A Christmas tree allergy? Talk about the short end of the stick. Worst allergy ever.
