[ buffy has been running on autopilot. smile at the right times, nod in the right moments. make the appropriately inappropriate remarks about over-sugared coffees and pop music at all the wrong times in just the right ways. it isn't hard to do once she sets her mind to it; after all, she had done it in sunnydale for seven years ( Read more... )

This is not late or ironic at all. fallenambitions June 1 2011, 18:47:07 UTC
[Combat training...?]

If you need someone to help you, I may be of some assistance. I have plenty of experience with what you require.

hahaha so ironic. slaying June 1 2011, 22:26:33 UTC
Oh? What kind of experience?

Before I came to Luceti, I was Commandant of the Imperial Knights. If you're looking for someone who can manage, organize and train people, I can do all of that.

I'm afraid it's probably a little more pencil-pushing than what you're expecting -- mostly I try and match students up with other teachers. Y'know? But we can always use more teachers.

A combat school?

[She'd read about it in the guide within the first few days of arriving here but back then she'd been certain she'd find her way home in a matter of days -- or to the Great Library at least. Long term commitments made little sense.

Now, though? With the drafts plucking random volunteers out onto the battlefield and the shifts doing who-knows what besides? Her daily laps around the village might not be enough to prepare her.]

Something makes me think I should rename it to something like Plenty of Swords. It's more like a match-making service between those who want to learn and those who are willing to teach.

Interested, Thursday?

[settling in doesn't really take a great deal of time...not when most of your belongings can fit into a single bag. But later in the afternoon, it isn't hard to find her sitting in the living room, scratching Cupcake's belly while flipping through journal entries]

[ sometime post-spellage but pre-patrol, buffy sorta blusters her way through the living room with a hefty looking battle axe in her arm. no reason, really. just...moving it around. she'd left it in the kitchen and thought she'd better put it away before bones gets all googly-eyed over it.

but she slows to a stop as she sees jilly in the room. ]

O-oh. Hi. [ a small smile -- just a little awkward but mainly because it's new...getting used to someone else in the house again. ]

Hey. [she glances up with a smile....and then arches an eyebrow at the axe.]

...remind me not to make you mad.

What, this? [ she snugs it up against a wall (destined to be left somewhere else where bones will gripe about it) and grabs a casual seat across the room from jilly. ] Can you believe it was a birthday present? Almost everyone punks out and gets the Slayer sharp and deadly things for her birthdays and for Christmases. It's like the Chosen One's version of the hand-knit sweater.

I have experience with training soldiers, but don't expect me to go easy on them just because they're amateurs.

I'm not sure anyone really signs up to be gone easy on.

Heh. You'd be surprised how many trainees come in expecting to be coddled.

You can count me in for that! [Even if it's...slightly awkward after Valentine's. But she will do her best to ignore that.] Is there anything in particular you were looking for in the potluck?

[ oh hey, bench-sleeping and bath-taking girl. been a while. ]

I know Sokka likes meat, but I'm shooting for variety here. Got any specialties? [ though she sounds a little guilty. there's this whole yue thing, now. ]

[ That is has, bar-voices girl.

Meanwhile, Fenimore hasn't noticed the guilty tone yet. ] I have a few. Though I'm still not really used to the elec'ric ovens here. [ She pauses. ] If I had to say one, though...tarts?

Tarts it is, then. It might be...it might be a little while before we have a pinned down date. Just a warning.
