Last year neither of the lakes froze naturally that I can remember, but given the cold if you find someone who got some ability to freeze things normally I bet you could get it freeze for a few hours at a time or something. Or collect a bunch of people with a pact with Sona.

Sona? That's...one of the spirity things--right?

[She sounds mildly distracted as she asks. The thought of getting a few folks with ice mojo together sounds pretty appealing, even for this sworn enemy of snow.]

[He'd even arrange it with the right pushing. Ice skating party, maybe a hockey game? Hell yeah]

And the theory is that maybe if we could gather some of these pact people we could manufacture ourselves an ice-rink?

[And so this may be some kind of an attempt to locate the right kind of pushing. After all, Buffy's paid enough attention to realize that Haruki seems to be the go-to guy for most things fun and social.

[As silently as the snow around her, River has appeared under the slayers window, and is sloooooooo~wly poking her head up to look inside]

she's met the previous river but they were never really introduced, just chatted once. =D

[Just gonna leisurely look back out the window and oh my god--]

Just so you know? Heart-attacks are really not in this season. [Buffy takes a deep breath before she looks closely and hey--don't you look familiar?]

Then who is Buffy? [Lifts her hands up to rest on the windowsill as she tilts her head and blinks at the slayer]

That...would be me. [She thumbs at herself and backs a step away from the window in order to get a better look at the girl she's sure she's only spoken to once.]

Can I help you with anything?

Not as long as I remember it. Perhaps with some extended use of an Ice materia, one could change that.

[slaying]

[Oh look, it's none other than Probably-Uses-Too-Much-Conditioner guy.]

Ice materia? [And why does that second word sound so familiar--like Aerith had mentioned it to her, once. Or maybe Tifa before she left.]

This. It's not as powerful here... nothing is, I daresay. But this combined with a Time materia should make and maintain your frozen lake.

[Whatever misgivings she might have about the guy--after all, trouble always did seem to come in a leather coat--this was good news.]

Okay, I suppose. Sort of same-old, same-old. Snow, brr, complain about the snow and the brr. That's pretty much it.

That depends--how good are you on your feet? Particularly when those feet are attached to boot-like things with blades on the bottom?

...I fought against Romulans on a drill floating in the atmosphere of a planet. Does that count?

I think it probably counts for something. We'll just have to find out if any of that experience is applicable to the great pastime that is ice-skating.
