Second icon tutorial! Hmm, don't know if this icon is that good, but that might be because I've been staring at it for the past hour. *sighs*
Anyways, this tutorial is a bit more difficult than the first but it should be simple enough all the same. But if you don't understand anything, just ask (I sometimes express myself strangely). As always feel free to comment (especially comment! can you say comment whore?), ask questions, make suggestions or show your own work, based on this tutorial. And now... on to the tutorial! Enjoy! ^__^
Tutorial 002: "dreams" (vogue scan) icon
tools: photoshop 07;
difficulty/level: beginner (but have to know your way around PS)
icon tutorial 002 - "dreams"
For this tutorial I used
this image from
Vogued.nu and then cropped it like that *points to image on the
left*. That is our base! :)
Sharpen your base (filter --> sharpen
--> sharpen) once. Now "Fade" your shapen to 50% (edit
--> fade sharpen --> 50%); next go to hue/saturation (image
--> adjustments) and adjust your saturation to -60.
Duplicate your layer twice. Set the first
one (should be layer 1 copy) to screen, opacity 20% and the second
(layer 1 copy 2) to soft ligth, opacity 100%. Now desaturate (image
--> adjustments) both layers.
Add a new layer and fill it with the color #C4E0E3. Set the layer to
multiply, opacity 100%. On another new layer, add the color #EACDA2
and set it to color burn, opacity 50%.
Add yet another layer... and past
this texture by
unmasked_icons;. Set it to multiply, opacity 100%.
New layer. Past
this
texture by
colorfilter. Go to edit --> transform
--> rotate 180º. Set the layer to soft light, opacity 100%.
Next select your eraser tool and using a round soft airbrush set at 40%
opacity erase the texture, except the cool flower on the far left (see
image).
Create a new
layer, past this tiny test (on the left) and change the
layer to lighten, opacity 100%.
Now, using a font like book antiqua (I used
bach), at 16pt, anti-aliasing: sharp write "dreams". And
you're done!
