Wilson and his McGill Apparel

Apr 27, 2006 11:59

nebt_het got us thinking about the why and wherefores of Wilson's collection of McGill tees and sweat shirts. We were pondering what it could mean over on her lj when It dawned on me, cause I'm kind of slow on the uptake these days, that I could just email them at the old alma mater and find out what the score was. Which I did ( Read more... )

So cool! When I saw the sweatshirt, I actually wondered if there was a McGill university somewhere in the states... because in my silly americanized mind it wasn't possible an elite doctor of Chicago had gone to a canadian university ;)

Yay Wilson! and Yay McGill!

I knew the reason for his coolness and quiet nature, and politeness was that he was a Canadian! I knew it! ;)

That would explain his low moral standards as well then? *beg*

So are we talking med school then? Not undergrad? When do you decide on a speciality and how many residencies do you have to do when you go into something?

Don't have a clue?

I know when I was at McGill you pretty much had to start pre-med your first year or else you'd never get all your credits.

The interesting thing about this info is that if he did undergrad there that means he graduated in three years not four, because Quebec only does three years of university for a BA or BSc. Which suggests he might have deliberately gone to school there so he could get into med school sooner?

Last time I talked to someone about it up here, you had to do a residency for your GP and then another for your specialty. So we'd assume two for Wilson then?

So that makes it's three residencies? GP, Internist and then oncology? Wow! No wonder he wanted to get that year cut off his undergrad programme. *g*

I'm being stubborn- I still think he went there for post-grad work and not undergrad. It seems to me like even if he knew going in he wanted to be pre-med, he would take awhile to figure out he wanted oncology. Now they have lots of specialties and a great reputation even if he didn't know but I think it was an after the fact decision. What have they said about his parents?

Why are their rugby shirts so expensive?! *pout*

Oh I'm just making it up as I go along. I'm not actually invested in any scenario at this point. So you could sway me to your position as easily as any other. *g*

Uh, they need the money to pay for all the fancy dancy medical programmes they have there.

So does this mean he should be able to speak French?

Nope. McGill is a English language university founded by a Scot and Montreal is extraordinarily bilingual.
