This was sad. Beautifully written as always, but sad. Very realistic and sad. Need to find some sappy fluff to compensate;-)

Sleeper, I am totally touched!
The short, almost casual lines did it to me: “Luke?”
Reid sits up in his chair. He doesn’t like a quiet Luke.
There is so much realization and worry in it...

Reid declaring he would go riding with Luke - Reid ordering the fish - I am sure he doesn't like himself -
Well Reid actions always sing the song of his love for Luke - a bot unusually, a bit coded sometimes but very clear in its meaning.

And Luke? Laughing at Reid's awkward attempts to make him - although he surely doesn't feel like laughing. His ddep trust in Reid:

“You’re going to be okay, Luke,” Reid says.

“Yeah?” Luke asks as he releases a yawn before shutting his eyes. He snuggles closer to Reid.

“I promise.”
