Reid looks up from the newspaper when he hears the keys jangling in Luke’s hands, curious as to where Luke is going. It’s Sunday afternoon, on Reid’s rare day off, and he and Luke already planned the rest of their day, plans that do not include either of them leaving the house at all.

“Where are you going?”

Luke sighs as he runs both hands through his messy hair, which Reid proudly notes has been sticking up all day since he grabbed it during that morning’s adult fun time-Luke having coined that phrase so he and Reid wouldn’t accidentally say sex in front of Ethan or Natalie.

“Mom called and asked if I can help Natalie sell her Girl Scout cookies today.”

“Again? Didn’t I just buy some a few months ago?”

“Twelve months ago,” Luke says. “I know today’s our day but if I don’t take her, no one will. Mom and Dad are still helping Grandma Emma at the farm so . . .”

Reid puts the paper down. “Just bring them here and I’ll buy ‘em all.”

“Reid, how is she going to learn to be responsible if you take the responsibility away from her?”

Reid wrinkles his eyebrows. “Who’s talking about responsibility? I’m just going to take her cookies and give her money for them.”

“Reid.”

“Come off it, Luke. I bet anytime you had to sell candies and shit for school, Mommy bought them all so her precious baby wouldn’t have to go door-to-door.”

Luke laughs. “It was Grandmother who bought them, actually.”

“I rest my case,” Reid says as he resumes reading. “Now go get them so we can have dessert.”

Luke jiggles the keys as he looks at Reid. “Are you sure?”

Reid puts the paper down. “Hell, yes, I’m sure. I want you here with me, not selling goodies to random strangers all afternoon.”

Luke smiles. “Okay.”

“Good.” Reid stands from the couch. “Do me a favor, though. When you get back, ring the bell.”

“What? Why? I have keys,” Luke says, holding up his set.

“I know, but if I’m going to do this, I want to do it right.” Reid puts his hands on Luke’s shoulders. “Bring the cookies, ring the bell, and sell them to me like a good Girl-uh, Boy Scout.”

Luke scrunches his face. “Oh, please tell me you don’t want me to dress up like an actual Boy Scout.”

Reid quickly shakes his head. “Of course not. I’m no dirty pervert. It’s just me wanting some adult fun time with you.” He wiggles his eyebrows up and down. “What do you say?”

Luke shakes his head in amusement. He and Reid tend to role-play every now and then. There’s the time he was the not-so-generous donor who needed Dr. Oliver to convince him to give him money for the wing. Then there was another time where Luke was the lawn boy hired by Reid to mow the yard. And there have been many other playful escapades too.

It has been a while, though, since they’ve attempted more fantasy scenarios. Luke is now going to school and working while Reid is hiring and training staff. Luke has also been spending more time with the Snyders, Emma in particular since she had hip-replacement surgery. They barely have enough time alone together nowadays, time that doesn’t always allow for elaborate sexual adventures.

“Okay,” Luke says before kissing Reid and walking out the door.

Thirty minutes later, just as Luke is unlocking the front door, he hears a thump from the other side. He tries to push open the door but it won’t budge.

“Reid, what the hell?”

“I told you to ring the bell,” Reid says through the door.

Luke rolls his eyes and adjusts the case of boxes he’s holding in his arms, but he rings the doorbell anyway. When Reid doesn’t open the door, Luke bangs on it with his fist. “Reid, open the door!”

A minute goes by before the door slowly opens. Reid, in the Oakdale University t-shirt and faded jeans he’s been wearing all day, wipes his face and neck with a hand towel. He smiles at Luke. “Hello. Sorry I didn’t answer sooner. I was working out and didn’t hear the doorbell.”

Luke bursts into laughter. Reid Oliver does not work out. He used to run-he and Luke ran every other morning in the first few months of living together-but gave it up when things got extremely busy at the hospital.

Reid hits him with the towel. “Luke!”

“Sorry!” Luke bites his lip to keep from laughing. “Working out, huh?”

Reid lifts his shirt to show off his abs. “You can’t eat like a pig and still look like this if you don’t break a sweat.”

“If you say so.”

“So, what can I do for you, young man?”

Luke holds up the case. “Good afternoon, sir. Would you like to buy a box of Girl Scout cookies?”

“Doctor.”

“Huh?”

“That’s doctor, not sir. I’m a doctor,” Reid says as he leans against the side of the doorframe, arms folded across his chest, and grins at Luke.

“Would you like to buy some cookies, Doctor?”

“Aren’t you a little too old to be a Boy Scout?”

“I’m selling them on behalf of my younger sister.”

Reid looks around. “I don’t see her.”

“That’s because I don’t want her knocking on the doors of dirty, old men,” Luke says.

“So you’d rather do it?”

“I can handle dirty, old men.”

“Like grandpas?” Reid asks with a smirk.

Luke hits Reid with the case. “Reid, you promised not to bring that up anymore,” he hisses.

“Okay, okay, I’m sorry.” Reid clears his throat as he gets back into character. “So, what kinds of cookies do you have?”

Luke thrusts the case in Reid’s face. “Take a look.”

Reid looks Luke up and down instead. “I am looking.”

“See anything you like?”

“Oh yeah.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“Yeah?” Luke asks again.

“Yeah,” Reid repeats.

Luke laughs. “All right, all right, that’s enough. We’ll be out here all day. So, how many boxes do you want to buy, Doctor?”

“Give me two of those peanut butter ones,” Reid says, pointing to the boxes. He takes out his wallet. “Well, this is embarrassing.”

“What?”

“I don’t have any cash on me.”

“Really? Are you even a real doctor? Or are you one of those people that calls himself a doctor just because he has a Ph.D.?” Luke smirks. “Unless you’re just a dentist?”

“How dare you insult me, Mr. Not-a-real-Boy-Scout.”

“Hey, I never said I was.”

“I am a real doctor.” He points behind him. “Why don’t you get your tight, little ass in here so you can see my diplomas for yourself?”

Luke smiles brightly at him. “No, thank you.” He returns the boxes to the case. “I’ve got cookies to sell, and I saw your neighbor across the street earlier. He looks like he eats a lot. I bet he’ll be interested in what I have to offer.” Luke winks and then turns to leave.

“Hold on, hold on,” Reid says, grabbing Luke’s arm to stop him from leaving. “Let me suggest another form of payment.”

“Nope,” Luke answers, shaking his index finger at Reid. “No cash, no cookies.”

“I have something else in mind.”

“No checks or credit cards, either.”

Reid walks closer to Luke and places his hands on Luke’s waist. “It’s neither of those, but coincidentally, it does begin with the letter c.”

Luke looks down at Reid’s hands and then back up at Reid. He licks his lips. “Could you we discuss this inside? We don’t want to give the neighbors something to talk about.”

Reid grins as he pulls Luke and the case inside.

Once indoors, Luke drops the case and pushes Reid against the door. Their faces are only inches apart. “So, how ‘bout you show me how you intend to pay me, Doctor?”

“With pleasure,” Reid says as his hands quickly unzip Luke’s jeans. He hangs on to Luke’s waistband as he walks them over to the couch, where he pushes Luke down onto it.

Luke sits back and opens his legs. Reid kneels on the floor in between Luke’s legs and proceeds to remove Luke’s jeans and boxers. He moistens his lips with his tongue and grins at Luke. “This is for two boxes of cookies.”

Luke moans as Reid’s mouth covers him completely. He opens his legs wider, and his hands grab onto Reid’s hair. He shuts his eyes in pleasure. “Uh . . . mmm . . . shit . . . uh, uh . . . payment-payment accepted.”

Reid stops sucking for a second. He looks at Luke with a sly smile. “I want two more boxes,” he says before continuing.

Luke begins to pant loudly as Reid’s fingers join his mouth in making Luke lose complete control. “Yes! Yes! You can have ‘em!” he shouts before he releases. Afterwards, he motions Reid to him. Reid stands and hovers over Luke.

As Luke’s hands travel to Reid’s pants, Reid pushes them away. He shakes his head. “I’m the one who’s paying.”

Luke pulls Reid down on top of him. “I want to touch you.” He kisses Reid. “I’ve never been with a doctor before. Please.”

Reid laughs.

“Tell you what-let me feel you against me and I’ll give you all the boxes.”

“You got a deal,” Reid says. He removes Luke’s shirt and then forces Luke onto his back so Luke now lies on the couch. Reid undresses quickly and then falls on top of Luke.

Their mouths meet, wet, open, and hungry. They spit into their hands and stroke and fondle one another as they continue kissing. They gasp and moan as they increase the friction and speed. Eventually, their hands give out and Reid simply falls against Luke, their foreheads touching while they thrust against each other until they climax.

Reid sits up and runs a hand through his hair. He smiles at Luke. “So, same time next year?”

Luke sits next to him, still trying to catch his breath. “I’ll tell my sister to get two cases.”

They laugh and share a kiss.

“You’re a great salesman,” Reid says.

“And you’re great with your hands and your mouth, Doctor,” Luke says. “I’m sorry I called you a dentist.”

Reid shakes his head. “Yeah, what was that about? And threatening to go to Bert’s house? Bert? Really, Luke?”

“Jealous?”

“I would be if he wasn’t sixty and bald and crazy about his wife,” Reid says, referring to their neighbor. Reid smirks. “Though I know you’re okay with them being old.”

“Yeah, like you,” Luke shoots back, playfully poking Reid in the stomach.

“Okay, okay, I’ll stop.”

“This was fun.”

Reid nods as he opens a box of cookies. “Remind me to thank Natalie for being a Girl Scout.”

Luke laughs.

“What do you think about continuing this tonight? You ring the doorbell again and demand more payment for the cookies. And well, I’ll have to oblige; otherwise, you’ll take the cookies away.”

Luke grins. “You’re on.”

“But first,” Reid says, holding out a peanut butter wafer, “do you want a cookie?”

“Don’t mind if I do, Doctor,” Luke says before taking a bite.

For those of you reading Oakdale is Not So Bad, the next chapter will be up by the end of the week.
