If you are a fan of The STROKES and you have the opportunity to see them live, you would be a fool to miss it. Get your ticket the day they go on sale, or beforehand if you can. They're sooo worth it. I had the absolute best time at the Orlando House of Blues, I was about 5 feet from Julian at one point when he decided to scale the entire upper ( Read more... )

I think you need more than one day in S.F., and you need to let me know when you arrive in town. :)

but that's me, and I'm admittedly biased.

and if it IS, S.F., I will definitely help you move/unload/unpack/whatever.

At least on this end of the trip. :)

Hey Kev, thanks! SF is a good possibility, I have a lot of people working in my favor to help make it happen if I do decide to go. If I go to LA I have a friend I can room with, if we can decide on a mutually beneficial area to live in, and I've got some contacts in the music industry. If I go to NYC I think I'm basically on my own. Although who knows, people keep coming out of the woodwork with various opportunities. (How the hell they got into the woodwork in the first place beats me.) Anyway, I will be there April 28-30. I can't spend more time there because I already bought my plane ticket, and I have a concert to go to on the 1st out in Indio, and I have to be back in Florida before the 10th to go on a cruise with my family. Basically I just want to feel out the area, kind of like I did with NYC when I went there to see Bjork. I didn't do much there, I just walked across the city from the Staten Island Ferry to Central Park. But that walk really gave me a sense of the layout of the city. So I'll be spending most of my ( ... )

actually, the 29th should work really well for me.

I'm not an expert when it comes to S.F. (being in Berkeley), but I could at least show you around the Haight, and maybe some of the downtown area. I might even be able to locate Chinatown, too. :)

My roomie knows the city rather well, and I'll ask her if she can think of any areas to check out living-wise as well.

As for June, I will definitely keep my ears open. I have someone in mind I'll ask this week if she knows of anyone looking. You might also want to start looking at Craigslist, too, to get some ideas of what's out there.

drop me an e-mail at livejournal.com, and I'll send you my phone numbers and such.

and yes. I'd definitely like to meet up.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say anything bad about San Francisco. Now I have to see the place for myself to find out if it really is THAT cool or they practice ritual brainwashing and memory replacement.

of course it might be the mind-bending drugs that everyone takes over there....;-)

If it wasn't for the fact that people in LA and NY are just as drugged out but not as consistently complimentary of their environments, I would have to agree with you...well, maybe they just have better drugs in SF :o)
