persona 4: november, ffta2 ending.

* Not that I'm say that FFTA2 was a especially difficult game--except for that one fucking battle with the tinker on your side who kept hasting the enemy oh those fucking tinkers--or to say that I am a master of such things, but I am drawing a line. When you play real games, and I mean the kind with a bunch of these units fighting these units and you spend your waking moments on how to effectively kneecap a bitch with the edge of your wit and three tiny plastic army men, your speaking privileges on this matter will be reinstated.

IN GENERAL I LIKE ME SRPGS TO BE PORTABLE. They are the kind I finish! I am generally really not with the attention span for games like Disgaia where I have to sit there with the controller in my hands, thinking about cheese or something while I level units until they bleed diamonds with their level of hardcore. Portable systems are small and thus I can take them with me on my at least three hour round trip to school and back. I happened to discover the joy of this with the first FFTA, and so with this in mind, I purchased FFTA2 waay back in June.

Compared to FFTA, there are some things I liked better. For one, most of the time, the MC dying is not a game over. Like reducing the laws to something that breaking I like the gria, and I like some of the new classes. Master Monk--extra levels of beatdown on the white monks? Cannoneer--big lizards with guns? Parvir--deadly samurai blows? Lennart? Hello sailor.

There are definitely places where the game falls down, though. Like the MP system that regens only ten MP a turn and so you kind of just really have to make your mages sit there and gestate MP, making viera better magic users imho because they are quick. Like the fact that as much as I want there to be a use for the seeqs, they didn't really add much to the game for me. I also didn't have much use for the clan tittle fights after awhile because I could never remember which one I'd done, so I didn't get all the clan tittles. Oops. If they do a third game, and keep that system, they should at least make all the titles separate missions.

I liked the characters a lot in this one too--Luso is a sight more interesting to tote around Ivalice, and Adelle and Cid are interesting characters of the sort that are worth keeping in your active party, and not just because they have a nice combat ability. Considering that the last FFTA wasn't nearly that giving, it's a nice change.

I have to admit, it's probably nothing special to anyone else, but it ment a lot to me. I frequently prefer things like the Crystal Chronicles games over the main FF games. I'm weird like that.

After I finish up the end of game missions, it's on to Disgaia DS for me.

If you don't want to be spoiled for November in P4, stop reading here.

1. I haven't rescued Nanako yet. If this was P3, she'd be dead. She might not be, but I think there's even money on it.
2. I knew that guy was plot important. HE HAD A PORTRAIT. That said...I'm not dead convinced he's the killer, because he's kind of too much of crazy dipshit. I think he's just another fall guy.
3. ...okay, this isn't a spoiler, but Naoto's VA? Jessica Straus? Worst. Combat. Voice. Ever. It's like something between "overpitched alto" and "breaking teenage male", but for EVERYTHING that isn't a voiced scene. oh my god, why. Did she call it in with a throat cold? Did someone strangle her at the same time they recorded? She did Pi mostly fine, so I'm wondering what the hell haappennned.
