I looked at the remains of his busted scooter engine scattered on the ground. I knew that the batteries were shot, but I had hoped that he could reuse the stabilizers, maybe some of the transistors. Something to get me out on the town.

Someone laughed at him, and he looked up from the sidewalk at the top of the old roof to see two elves looking down on him. One of them was shaking his head, and the girl was laughing.

"So, another one rides the Bump. I give it a five, for moxie but no style."

I glared. "I'll have you know I'm the height of the next big thing. Only someone as blind as you could never recognize genius if it hit you in the face."
