That's a totally messed up story! At some point after noon they should have bought you an emergency replacement since it was medical equipment. Or somebody should have tried to hook you up with one out of concern, even if they weren't offering to pay. That they kept you waiting, in the end for no reason, is very bad.
That is so utterly fucked up. I think this warrants a strongly worded letter to the CEO of American, the head honcho at TSA, and probably the FAA too, I should think. They put your life in danger! What would have happened if you had to make a connecting flight or got delayed or something and had to dialyze immediately?
