Brendan Hunter had always been raised to be a good Catholic boy and he had never once considered that there was anything worth going against his vows for - he had cancelled his engagement to answer his calling. How could anything tempt him?

He held to this only until meeting Adrienne Marcus.

She was the type of young woman who could eat him alive, he knew. Hers was a dangerous beauty, a self-assured beauty that smoldered with sensuality, the sort of beauty and sensuality that she learned to use well.

She seemed to have a plan for him before he could even fully comprehend what it was. At first he wrote it off as a bored schoolgirl trying to rile up the new young priest, but she went beyond just riling him up. Every confession was laced with double meaning as she described in great and explicit detail her sins while Brendan tightly clutched his Bible in his lap on the other side of the confessional divider and silently prayed for her soul and his, the silver of a cross glinting at him from her cleavage through the divider.

Once she had confessed and he had instructed her in the way of salvation, begging that she behave, she was always quick to remind him “But Father, I have to sin if I want to see you again.”

For Brendan, Adrienne’s curves were delicate lines of torture.
