The Bolder Thing To Do

Pairing: Perrin/Dana

There comes a point in life where every day just seems to repeat itself in a never ending cycle of monotony. It wasn’t that Dana’s life was boring - she had a great job helping people (which she loved to do), she could see her father and friends often, she painted and photographed things and enjoyed her life, but everyday seemed to be a shade of the one before. For Dana, that cycle was broken when Perrin came into her life. It was exciting to have a patient who constantly and consistently shocked her with his lies; it was fun to play his games. She wasn’t supposed to have sex with patients, but it sent an illicit thrill through her the first time she went to his apartment and her skirt fell to the floor.

That’s all it was really - just sex, harmless fun. She was a trained therapist, she knew that Perrin had a problem and he just couldn’t give her all of the things that she wanted like a stable relationship and children. She knew that he liked sex with men and women; he had told her how rare it was for him to be attracted enough to a woman to sleep with her. They were always playing this push and pull games and she was always the loser because somehow she became the one who needed him when before she hadn’t needed anyone.

She knew so much yet she wasn’t entirely sure why she was crying at the bottom of his apartment stairwell. Maybe a part of her had thought that this was another game, that the entire thing was a game and eventually she would win. Instead she had climbed all of the stairs to his apartment after a hard day at work, hoping for his comfort and his company, but he had been indifferent to her.
