It took me a year to finally create enough history to make a soundtrack for my goddess and here it finally is. Enjoy.
1.
Bubbly - Colbie Calliat It starts in my toes
And I crinkle my nose
Wherever it goes I always know
That you make me smile
This song was popular right as I was starting to really write for Psyche. It really just seemed to fit her personality and even talks about how she wrinkles her nose, which Psyche has a tendency to do.
2. Marble Halls - Enya (All Verses)
Pairing: Eros/Psyche
I dreamt that suitors sought my hand,
that knights upon bended knee
and with vows no maiden's heart could withstand,
they pledged their faith to me.
And I dreamt that one of that noble host
came forth my hand to claim.
But I also dreamt which pleased me most
that you loved me still the same
I picked this song to represent the beginning and middle of Psyche and Eros love story. It's beautiful in its imagery and in its language. And it seems to describe how they met and fell in love perfectly. I only have this song in IPod format. Let me know if you want it or can't find it in another format and I'll upload it for you.
3.
Stay - Sugarland (LJ Verse/Undertherainbow AU Verse)
Pairing: Eros/Psyche
Why don't you stay
I'm up off my knees
I'm so tired of being lonely
You can't give me what I need
When she begs you not to go
There is one thing you should know
I don't have to live this way
Baby, why don't you stay
I'd been searching for a song for Psyche's struggles with leaving Eros for New York, and one night, after falling asleep with my tv on the country music video station and I awoke to this song. The video is simply Jennifer Nettles standing and crying as she sings. It fit so well, I immediately included it in Psyche's soundtrack. It also, btw, makes an excellent karaoke song.
4.
Dance Floor Anthem - Good Charlotte (LJ Verse/Undertherainbow AU Verse)
Pairing: Eros/Psyche
She’s going out to forget they were together
All that time he was taking her for granted
She wants to see if there’s more
Then he gave she’s looking for
He calls her up
He’s trippin’ on the phone
Now he doesn’t want her out there and alone
Now he knows she’s smiling and
Knows she’s using it
Now he’s loosing it
She don’t care
After Psyche left Eros, she seemed to just be in the mood to get out and discover things she'd missed in the 2000 plus years she'd been by herself. The first verse of this song fit that wonderfully, and one of the very first ficlets I wrote fit right in with the lyrics.
5.
As Long As You Follow - Fleetwood Mac (LJ Verse)
Pairing: Eros/Psyche
Ive bee wandering
Gone away too far
But the road was rough
To get back where you are
And the sun went down
It never seemed to rise
Ah but now youre here
With the light shining in your eyes
When Psyche reunited with Eros, it became clear that she still loved him. This is their song.
6.
Goodnight and Go - Imogen Heap (LJ Verse)
Pairing: Younger!Hermes/Psyche
Skipping beats, flashing jeeps
I am struggling
Daydreaming, been sitting, the corner cafe
And I'm left in bits, recovered tectonic, trembling
You get me everytime
Why'd you have to be so cute
It's impossible to ignore you
Must you make me laugh so much
It's bad enough we get along so well
Say goodnight and go
One relationship that has been a constant in Psyche's rp canon, has been her ongoing flirtation with Hermes (
godly_pr). They both developed crushes on one another and this was Psyche's song for him. Ignore the stalker lyrics, she didn't quite go that far.
7.
Good Enough - Evanescence (LJ Verse)
Pairing: Younger!Hermes/Psyche
And I'm still waiting for the rain to fall.
Pour real life down on me.
'Cause I can't hold on to anything this good enough.
Am I good enough for you to love me too?
So take care what you ask of me,
'cause I can't say no.
Once Psyche and Hermes realized they both had feelings for one another, Eros had already reappeared on scene, and Psyche was torn between the two. She loved one with all her heart, but the other was her husband and her soul mate. Where As Long As You Follow is Psyche/Eros' song, Good Enough is the song Psyche uses to express her feelings for Hermes. He is her best friend, her beloved, and while they will never truly be together, she can never say no to him.
8.
Ice Cream - Sarah McLachlan (Undertherainbow AU Verse)
Pairing: Older!Hermes/Psyche
Your love is better than chocolate
Better than anything else that I’ve tried
Oh love is better than chocolate
Everyone here knows how to cry
In Under the Rainbow on IJ, Psyche is currently living with Hermes and is very much in love. She has no Eros, he has no Aphrodite and they finally decided to act on their mutual affection and passion for one another. This is their song. Psyche simply loves him more than chocolate and that is amazing in and of itself.
9.
Take My Breath Away - Berlin (Undertherainbow AU Verse/LJ Verse)
Pairing: Hermes/Psyche
Watching every motion in my foolish lover's game
On this endless ocean finally lovers know no shame
Turning and returning to some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion as you turn around and say
Take my breath away
Take my breath away
Hermes has always, ALWAYS in any verse, had the ability to take Psyche's breath away. He can charm her to no end. He also has the ability to break her heart, and she knows it.
9.
Use Your Love - Katy Perry (Mount Olympus Verse)
Pairing: Anteros/Psyche
As you leave please would you just close the door
now that our love affair is over
you're exactly what I was looking for
well go find a shoulder to cry upon
I just wanna use your love
tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight - tonight!
When Psyche first joined Mount Olympus, a spell had switched everyone's powers. Anteros, normally the god of unrequited love, was now the god of scorn. And Psyche, normally the goddess of the soul, now felt lost and cranky. Very cranky. One disastrous first meeting lead to yelling and tears. Then after several tense meetings, an exchange of scorn for lust and a slap later, Psyche slept with Anteros. She still hates him, he still dislikes her. And this song fit their love affair, from her side anyway, perfectly. She's determined not to tell Eros about it.
11.
Dirty Little Secret - All American Rejects (Mount Olympus Verse)
Pairing: Anteros/Psyche
Who has to know
The way she feels inside (inside)
Those thoughts I can't deny (deny)
These sleeping dogs won't lie (won't lie)
And now I try to lie
It's eating me apart
Trace this life out
I'll keep you my dirty little secret
(Dirty little secret)
Don't tell anyone or you'll be just another regret
(Just another regret)
Because Anteros is now her dirty little secret.
12.
Until The End - Breaking Benjamin So clever, whatever, I'm done with these endeavors
Alone I'll walk the winding way (here I stay)
It's over, no longer, I feel it growing stronger
I live to die another day, until I fade away
Why give up? Why give in?
It's not enough, it never is
So I will go on until the end
We've become, desolate
It's not enough, it never is
But I will go on until the end
This song is quintessentially Psyche's song. It is about struggle and survival, and if there is one things that Psyche knows everything about, it's that. The message to this song is simply this. No matter what you throw at me, no matter what you chose to do to me, I will make it through. I will be there until the end.
Hidden Song (aka The one I forgot) -
In Her Eyes - Josh Groban She's my inspiration
She's my northern star
I don't count my possession
All I call mine
I will give her completely
To the end of all time
While I was writing Psyche's Five Stages of Grief series, this was the song that I listened to. I've always seen it as her follower singing about her. So technically, it doesn't fit into the soundtrack about her loves, but I love it and it's part of her soundtrack in general, so it's here.
Well, there it is. I'm sure it will grow, but these songs will always be the core of her soundtrack. I hope you enjoyed it.
The beautiful graphics were made by the lovely Ramdonomo.
