A damn fine weekend!

I'm now just about recovered from the weekend. It was fun!

Saturday was gorgeous and warm and sunny, so Small and I went for a bounce down to the common. The recent chiropractic treatment has left him moving even more freely, and with an even bigger trot than before, and he was feeling really good about the world! From the moment he hit the common he just wanted to bounce and play - not naughty, just having a lot of fun! We both came back with huge grins!

Then we trundled off to the Barn Boogie. I don't often have an excuse to get all glammed up and party with so many wonderful people, and it was brilliant. It has to be said that drinking the bar dry of vodka redbull may not be the smartest thing I've ever done! Watching people pay £20 and £15 for two of my cakes in the auction was kinda awesome though.

The next morning we went round to lovely Kerins to see my wonderful Joe pony. He is loving it there. He's looking really well, despite having coated himself in so much clay he could pass as a terracotta pony. Apparently he's been spending a lot of time belting around the field bucking and farting and not behaving like a sedate retired sort of pony at all, so I thought we could maybe just wander into the school and see how things went...

...he was superb. We did a little groundwork, which was some of the best he's done in ages, and then I stuck a saddle on and hopped on board. He hadn't been ridden for about 10 months, but he was really happy to be playing again. I'd almost forgotten how he is to ride - for a big lad he's incredibly light and responsive. He made it very clear there was some stuff he wasn't prepared to do, because it hurt, but he still offered me some beautiful lateral work. Not bad for a chunky cob in a rope halter with just one rein!

Joe attempts to find the least flattering pose possible...

six months ago I never thought I'd do this again....

I'd almost forgotten just how wide he is. My legs were killing me this morning!
