Freaked the *&%#% Out

Perhaps my subject line says it all, except to say what this special feeling is all about: my comprehensive exams begin next Wednesday, continue on Friday and then end the following Monday. It's a three-day test, four hours a day. I know my questions but can't go in with notes or outlines, and I'm expected to produce 15-20 typed pages per day. I ( Read more... )

Let me say (because I must) that I completely understand your anxiety. Studying for the bar exam was exactly the same. Weeks upon weeks of reading, note-taking, reviewing notes, and drilling answers to questions. Not talking to anyone for days. Constantly feeling as though, whatever I might be doing -- including eating and sleeping -- I should be studying instead. Waking every day to the ponderous fact that failure means being prohibited from getting a job, and all the self-flagellation that that prohibition entails.

samaphore will confirm that I basically did nothing but study for three months. And then I passed.

Obviously, neither my empathy nor my success can make your tests easier. But I hope you can feel a little at ease recognizing that the anxiety, itself, is surmountable.
