NaNoWriMo and my Overseers...

Nov 03, 2010 14:51

First, I got my little black Gakuchi in the mail today! I'm so elated to have his cute little face next to his partner in crime, finally!

I'm terribly unoriginal, so I've named them Gaku (white) and Chi (black) because together, they are GAKUCHI and they are AWESOME.

Gaku and Chi are overseeing my work as I catch up with homework and work on my novel for NaNoWriMo. You can still join, if you are interested!

It's called "Dolly" and it's based off of the Hyde song of the same name. I've set a goal of 2000 words a day, so that way if I miss a day or two of writing I'm not totally screwed. So far today I have written just under 600 words. I thought I'd share an excerpt with you:

Rain. The sound is constant and soothing. Thunder rumbles in the distance. The room is cool, a fire in the fireplace fights a losing battle against the chill. A lone figure sits comfortably in an overstuffed chair, moving only to feed the fire when the chill starts to win. She sits calmly, listening to the sound of the rain and the fire, connecting with the feelings of the Earth around her.

“Dolly…” The word is whispered through the air from a disembodied voice filled with grief. Ice blue eyes flew open, a previously calm heart now racing in fear. She knew that voice, and the whisper was quickly followed by visions of violence and desperation. A battle ends with the fall of a red haired woman and as her bright green eyes close, her fate is forever changed by a vampire’s kiss.

So what do you think?
