You really know how to touch - and bruise - a heart. Just the notion of Kevin looking "old and small" is enough for all us K/S lovers to gasp in despair. But it is also logical and beautifully written, so I guess we'll just have to trust you to set it all right in the end - and make him beautiful again, for you surely know that he - they - will always be beautiful.

Thanks! I don't know why I wanted to put the characters (and my readers) through the wringer, but I did. Unfortunately, things in the next chapter will get worse before they get better. However, I do intend to complete the trilogy of stories I started with 'When it Rains' with a happy, putting things back together ending. This story should be 3-4 chapters, then the next will bring an end to the angst.

Brilliant story!! I love the stories of Kevin and Scotty in the future.

You write very true to their characters, I totally see Scotty being impassive and not leting himself to break down. He was always like that on the show.

So Daniel is exactly like Kevin, isn't it? Hope in the next chapter we see Daniel and Olivia in the hospital too.

Looking forward to the next chapter!

Thanks! Yes, Scotty is being very brave and composed. We should be seeing some cracks in the armor in the next chapter, with a proper meltdown to come later.
Daniel is like Kevin. I imagine him being a 'mini-Scotty' in terms of appearance, but being emotionally more like his other dad.
I hadn't intended to have Olivia and Daniel in the hospital; I wrote them living in Portland, OR and Berkeley, respectively, which is quite a trek from LA. I did want to include them in the story, hence the phone exchange. Hopefully they will make a few more appearances in the story.

And Daniel is so Kevin! But it's weird he doesn't call Kevin and Scotty as his "Dads"...

Yes, Daniel is a lot like Kevin. I spent a long time thinking about what he would call his dads. I figured that Olivia calling them by their first names would have rubbed off on him. It seemed weird for one child to use first names and another to use 'dad' and 'daddy' or some other variation. So I decided that the most logical option would to have both children use first names interchangeably with 'dad.' Hope that makes sense.
