I take back every negative thing I've ever said about the woman.

Don't go crazy - everyone has flaws. :) But, I thought she was dead-on accurate here, and eloquent to boot.

I, too, was waiting for her to talk about it. It was good. It was good.

I was bemoaning (it sounds so much better than just whining) the fact that Natascha only got to see the poor and neglected parts of the city when we were down there this summer. When we left the rental car place, we took one turn through a very poor neighborhood and she was surprised that people lived in houses with no doors and with the windows broken out.
I wish we'd taken a day to spend in the city, where she could have seen it, in it's glory and had a chance to understand and appreciate it's soul.

I loved New Orleans. I don't doubt that when it's rebuilt it will be different, but still wonderful.

The trip D and I took a few years ago was meant to be the first of many, and certainly we will go back again, however we now consider ourselves lucky to have had at least one brief time in the city as it was.

I remember the regret I felt when I realized I had never gotten around to taking Dani to the World Trade Center. Now, the New Orleans I knew is in the past as well. Life is short and swift.

Life is short and swift

So we need to grab it by the balls, swing it around and enjoy it.

I won't read it. I can't read it. I'm going to save this, in memories, and read this a long time from now, because I've hit the point of no return, and reading something that I just know will make me cry even more than what I'm moving into now is just punishment.

Thank you for posting it. I can save it to memories for later.
