Aww, how precious! I look forward to stories and pictures of Maizie :-). She's so cute!
Glad to hear Parker is still around. It's heartbreaking to lose a pet, and an amazing feeling whenever one is given a second chance to stay with us a little longer.
Maizie has a lot to live up to, but hopefully Parker can share some homespun doggy wisdom with her during their time together.
My biggest fear with Park was that she would get really sick while in the kennel during our relocation and need to be put down without us being there. Thank God that didn't happen, though. I don't think I would have ever forgiven myself.
They really are amazing, aren't they? I don't know that I've ever seen a dog with eyes like that, so she truly is a unique creation.
Parker doesn't seem phased by at the fact that she has a face like a Picasso painting. As long as she has am ample supply of dog food and easy access to carrion, she'll be a happy girl.
We've never had a puppy before - all of our previous dogs were adopted when they were full-grown. We thought it would be good for the kids to grow up with her, so it's both exciting and terrifying!
Holy God she is cute. I'm going to make her my desktop at work for cheering up purposes. Look at the expression on her face! AW.
I laughed out loud at Parker with the deer leg. My family's former dog, Bandit, a little terrier mutt, once grabbed a rotten pike head on a family outing and refused to let that sucker go. It was gross yet hilarious. The pike head was as big as he was.
My cat Oliver has a big mofo tumour too, and is lasting way beyond the vet's expectations. His new trick is jumping a metre from the stairs onto the dining room table to grab any goodies that might be out. He's a bastard but I love him dearly.
Excellent! I looked at the picture a bunch of times today, and it never failed to improve my mood. I understand the somewhat worried look on her face, as that's something that happens to me when I'm in close proximity to my mother-in-law.
I saw a retriever at the dog park we used to frequent come out of the lake with a big, dead carp. Same deal...wouldn't put the damn thing down. Dogs love their morbid little trophies.
Parker, the poor dear, has totally lost her sense of smell because of the cancer. She has retained, however, her insatiable appetite. So driven is she by her love of food that she climbed onto a patio table on my in-laws' deck and ate a crystal growing project my kids had in a bowl. The next day she puked green rocks everywhere, making my m-i-l think she was on her death bed!
Oliver and Parker are my heroes, quadraped or otherwise.
Her nose is pretty amazing. It's kind of heart-shaped and chocolate colored, which makes me think of candy. If a person doesn't like Maizie, they must not like either puppies OR candy, and what kind of person would that be?
My wise wife constantly reassures me that Parker will let us know when it's time, so that's definitely the most important consideration. My father-in-law helpfully offered to take her in the back and shoot her, but he frequently says the same thing about my mother-in-law and she's still around.

I'm glad that Parker is still doing well, though she's not really doing well. It's all about how a doggie feels, right?
