So, Easter is coming. In fact, it's come a week earlier than I had thought it was going to come. Checking what people tell you, often not a waste of your time Sleeter. Still, getting to go home a week before I thought I would is a bonus ( Read more... )

Yes, light, soft, gentle, these are all words I've got to come to know and love with regards the gas and breaks on this car. The breaks aren't like the ones on my learner car where they sort of gradually apply. The breaks, like the gas, are either not there or OMFG all there.

I found my learner car had a particularly forgiving clutch, too, making it much harder to stall. My instructor picked a diesel car (which are apparently harder to stall anyway), and a particular model that he found good for this. He found that stalling caused learners to panic - especially during a test.

I still managed to stall it once, though.

I've stalled my cars much, much, MUCH more.

This one seems harder to stall than my instructors car. Because of the power and the being all alone I've done stuff a couple of times that would have stalled my learner car, but this beast just growled like some kind of monster and carried on regardless. I took a corner too slowly for second gear (I knew I was doing it wrong at the time). Instead of stalling like my instructors car would have, this thing just sped up until it was going a good second gear speed.

My instructor chose petrol over diesel for the reason you mentioned. He wasn't very hot on the 'learning to pass the test' thing, he was much more about learning to drive. He said some of the instructors around here go for diesel because it's harder to stall, only to put people on the road in petrol cars who stall all the time.

Anyway, with the number of options and buttons and bells and whistles... well, this car might just be smarter than me.
