Some earnest, some with a bit of envy
I look into the crowd to look for a face that will comfort me despite the politics I am bound to

You look like her, someone I have adored
I have searched for her a thousand times over, risking everything for her.
She disappeared.
You applaud like everyone else
I look at you and smile, knowing you are not her.
But then, I freeze
Why are you wearing her ring?

I have nothing to do anyway, might as well watch.
You get your picture taken and the people around you cheer
I wonder if they really care for your cause, or are just, like me, spectators
I clap to show my respect
I have never seen you on TV, you are probably new in the arena
Your handsome stature gazes around and you look at me
I smile and blush slightly
I have forgotten to do that
Someone, a long time ago, had that effect on me.
You do look like him
Before I am late, I must go.
I touch the ring on my finger
I wonder.
How long will I have to wait?

All hurt that they didn't bother to find us.
They decided to make lives of their own
Even if they promised.

What will we say? What excuse can we give?
We turned this earth over inside and out and we still couldn't find them.

Thirty years

That it was YOU who connected us all together?

It was five
Five of us and five of them
Once the chain had been broken, our ties disappeared

But, what if they want to talk to us, to explain?
We cannot let them ruin our lives any further.
Remember? We have decided to forget about them.
Destroy everything about them.

My theory is right.

Now that HE is awake, we live in the same world again.
HE will sleep again one day.
