Dreaming Again...

Summer days

I was happily re-reading and editing my literary portfolio from my laptop on the bed, when my four chocobo boys came shouting into the room. I watched as Almond and Macmac were fighting with their hands seemingly holding onto an imaginary sword.

It took a second for me to immerse myself into their world.

This is what I saw.

“Avast! You’ll never get me alive landlubber!” Almond, with an eyepatch and a peg leg bellowed, drawing swords with the captain of the Royal Navy, Captain Macadamia. Macmac brought his sword down and retorted, “I’ll bring you in you seadog! You will serve your remaining days in prison with your other mates!”

“Until I die? Mommy won’t like that.” Almond questioned, putting up his eyepatch to reveal a working blue eye.

“It’s part of the story! Now get with it!” Macmac shouted before he swiped his sword at Almond. Another sword clashed with his.

“Nobody touches the captain as long as I’m around!” First mate Tacio declared, sparring with Macmac this time. Macmac was in trouble. He was sparring with one, completely forgetting that Captain Almond sneaked around him and was about the give the finishing blow. Good thing he had back-up.

Something fluffy jumped in front of Almond, just as he was about to strike Macmac. It was Navy officer Chessie.

“Going somewhere, mate?” he said, his Australian accent still visible even if it has been five months since he came home. He did some fancy sword work that got Almond looking around.

“Woah, did you learn that in Australia?”

“Yeah, it’s actually awesome. I almost poked my instructor’s eye out.”

“Did it hurt?”

“Not really mate. You just have to be careful.”

The sword fighting waged on as the two boats/beds collided with each other. There was smoke, clashing, a little bit of laughing and screaming when Tacio got poked by Chessie by accident. Suddenly, the boats shook, the four sea men dropped to their knees.

“In the name of Davey Jones, what was that?” Almond asked.

“It felt like an earthquake.” Macmac answered, getting up and balancing himself.

Tacio panicked, “What?! Earthquake! Quick! Go into a triangle of life position!” and he ran and plastered himself against the edge of the boat/wall. Chessie watched him. “It’s not an earthquake.”

Just then, a huge shadow came upon the two boats. The navy men looked up and was so shocked they dropped all their swords with a loud clang.

A huge sea dragon emerged beside the two boats, lifting itself up to two-storeys. The sea men watched as it roared and began hitting the boats with its tail. A small figure appeared on top of its head.

“WHO DARES DISTURB THE PEACE OF THE SEA?!” The sea Goddess/mommy roared,  calming the sea monster as she spoke.

Captain Almond and First mate Tacio drew their swords at the monster and its owner. “A sea monster! We shall capture it and bring it back to sell on the black market!”

Captain Macmac and First mate Chessie drew their swords as well, this time at the two pirates. “Never! You will never use this magnificent specimen for your shelfish gain! She will come with us for scientific research!” And the four began fighting again, this time for the giant sea dragon.

The Sea Goddess was angry that she was ignored. She commanded the sea dragon to hit the boats once more. That got the sea men’s attention.

“SO…IT WAS YOU WHO DISTURBED THE SANCTITY OF THIS PLACE. YOU WILL PAY!” She screamed, sending sprays of water towards the boats.

The battle waged on between the sea men and the sea dragon. Not too far away, on a small rock…

“Mommy hates it when there’s screaming where she works.” A blond-haired male merman said, watching the battle from afar. Beside him were his siblings, the youngest was sitting on the back of a giant sea turtle. She had yet to grow her fins yet and sported human legs.

“Yeah, but she also loves it when we play Imagination. She’s enjoying this you know.” His sister said, pushing her blond hair back as she played her fin happily in the water. Beside her was her other brother, holding a trident in his hand.

“Yeah, and she’s always going to drag us into the story as well.” He said, watching his baby sister playing happily behind Relena the sea turtle’s back. The grin on her face was priceless. He was sad he had to venture into new waters soon. He will miss his siblings.

Quatre watched from the doorway. His wife was sending her pet husky Heero to hit the two beds while the four chocobos fought it out. His two children and Rudy were on the third bed watching the mishap roll as Sora happily sat on his husky Relena’s back. He smiled and left the mayhem to its own deeds. He spied Hazel sitting in the balcony.

“And what are you doing here while the fun is ongoing?” He asked, watching the female chocobo put on her shades as she got into a sunbathing position. She answered in her cute voice.

“It’s sunny outside daddy!  Besides, I was there the whole time!”

“Hazel hurry! We need your help!” Captain Almond said, as the sea dragon splashed water into the boat, sinking it slowly.

“Yeah! As a noble-turned-pirate you have to help both sides!” Macmac shouted as he tried to get water out of the boats.

Hazel didn’t move from her sunbathing spot.

“Shoo! I’m sunbathing!”
