Well, I kind of already KNEW this before, I just hadn't bothered to check my account status because I was trying to be in deeeenial -_-'
But when I read on this page here (http://www.eff.org/issues/intellectual-property/guide-to-youtube-removals) that it's three strikes and you're out, I was pretty much like, "oh shit o_o" and decided tonight that I'd check it for myself.
So there is a real chance that my YouTube account could be suspended at some point, maybe soon.
I knew that, too, but I was hoping it 1. wasn't too likely, and 2. would happen later rather than sooner >.>
Caitlin, you were right; they probably ARE watching me now. The speed at which some of my recent uploads have been muted is most likely proof of that...
(Just last night I got a request to do an AkuRoku to a Relient K song ["If You Believe Me"], and I don't even know if I can DO it because I'm being watched by the Youtube copyright-hawks DX)
It's totally not fair, though. The first strike was over two years ago; shouldn't they have let that go? >.<
I mean, there should be some sort of statute of limitations on that shit. I didn't kill anyone, I made a stupid video to a Prince song, of which will probably never see the light of day again due to my fear of Prince hunting me down and eating me >.<
...that was a weird mental image...
And if not that, then the second one was COMPLETELY unfair, because that one had been blocked for about a year, then it got put BACK automatically, without me doing a thing with it, and like a week or so afterward, some dweeb from Adams Communications (assuming that's Bryan Adams' company) found it and reported it; it's like they set me up >.<
So okay, fine, I deserved the first one, but the second one was FUCKED. DX
Since the blocking/muting spree Youtube went on last year, I've had a nagging subconscious fear that someday when I check my email, I'll find out that my account's been obliterated. That fear is probably going to get worse now ._.;
I have so many memories, so many positive things attached to that account, and my little loyal devoted faction of fans (who number at close to 400 now) are kind of a self-esteem boost, not to mention the little reputation that people have come to associate with my username; AkuRoku, anti-Larxel, random cool - if not subtly political - videos like "How The War on Nobodies Began", the unexpected creation of one of the most loved Zexion tributes out there ("The Book of Zexion's Life"), the simplicity of my video editing, and the way that despite having a rinky-dink old version of WMM for most of my AMV making career, and dial-up, I've STILL been able to make halfway-decent AMVs.
(Though I WOULD like to have Sony Vegas... >.>)
Needless to say, I would be kind of DEVASTATED if it all got obliterated one day.
Which is why I don't like thinking about it >.>
Though, there is a SLIGHT chance that this may not happen for a while. I mean, look at the time gap between the two strikes. This hasn't happened too often. So there's a chance that something like this may not happen for another year, maybe more.
But since Youtube seems to be getting worse, not better, with the copyright thing, I'm kind of preparing myself for the worst >.>
So I'm thinking of starting a back-up account. Even though it would be a complete PAIN to have to reupload almost all my AMVs, I'd rather not have them die if such a thing were to happen to my original account. The username would probably be DancingwithDestiny, which is probably what I would've chosen originally if I had put more thought into it -.-'
Bleeeeh, I don't want to do that, though; it feels like paranoid surrender to me :/
But still, I'm thinking it may be a good idea to have that already made up in advance >.>

'Cause you've made and posted WAY more videos than I have, with a variety of audio, and have gotten a few of your videos muted or taken down, and you've never mentioned getting a strike on your account. Did you just get lucky or is it just my retarded song selections?! >.<
