Okay, American Idol time again.
This is posted a couple days late because I haven't had much LJ posting time in the last few nights.
This week was movie song week, and...it wasn't exactly what I expected. o.O
Ohh man, they're doing the duets thing again this week ._.'
And Jamie Foxx is mentoring...again.
Ryan talked to him in the audience, and he said he'd challenged the contestants, that he'd give the contestants either "Contestant" or "Artist" depending on their performance.
OMFG, Lee is singing Kiss From a Rose!! 8D
Erg, his falsetto leaves something to be desired :x
The performance was alright.
Randy thought it was just okay, too, and that he did nothing with the song.
Ellen said he could've done more with it, but that he was still good.
Kara said it wasn't as good as last week, and that this was a difficult song to sing, and that he got lost in the arrangement, but it doesn't take away from the fact that he is really god.
Simon was with Randy, said that he had a lot of songs to pick from other than that, and said it was verging on karaoke.
I love that song to death, and he didn't do anything special with it at all, other than sing it with his own voice. I am disappont. :|
Lee's gonna do the duet with Crystal! :D
...why would they even BOTHER putting out a compilation CD for this season?
Ryan just held one up.
They barely did one for last season, and that season was awesome! :|
Michael's singing some Michael Jackson song, I don't remember the title.
It started rough, but it was a bit better than Lee's. And it had a choir :P
Randy he didn't know what's going on tonight, he said the performance was just alright
Ellen said you can't go wrong with a choir behind ya :P And that the goal should be to win, and that his performance was predictable.
Kara said she didn't have goosebumps, and that he played it safe...
...wait, the song was from Free Willy?!
...
Simon doesn't know what Free Willy is?! o_O
After being told by Michael the movie was about a whale, he confused about how the song was supposed to fit, since he thought the song was about a whale named Willy. Kara told him it wasn't about the whale, and Simon interrupted saying "It's about a willy?" xD
Ooh, I had a good laugh with that one xD
Kyaa! Lee and Crystal are singing Falling Slowly!! :D
I freaking love that song.
Ooh, it's good.
They're singing face to face while playing their guitars.
Finally, a good performance tonight. :]
Randy seemed very pleased, that it was a great song with great singers, and that it could be a hit right now.
Ellen said that they were like the new Captain and Tenille :P
Kara said it was one of her favorite moments of the season. That they both felt like artists and that they did everything that should be done in a duet.
Simon said he doesn't know if he'd call it a good song...he'd call it a fantastic song.
(I love it when he gets them going like that, and winks, hehe)
Crystal said Lee is her "music crush", hehe
Ah, it MUST be them at the finale, dammit. Or ELSE. >|
Casey's singing "Mrs. Robinson".
I think we all know what THAT song's about... >.>
...or at least the movie that it was in...
Eh, it was a good vocal.
Randy was like, "Why'd you choose that song?! What was the reasoning behind that?" and picked on Kara a little bit, saying that she must be Mrs. Robinson, lol
Ellen said they should've given him a big boy guitar, lol
(he played a ukelele)
Kara said it was a good choice, and Simon and Randy heckled her a bit over that, ha :P
Simon said it didn't have enough substance for this point in the competition.
Did...they just say that Crystal's doing a song from Caddyshack? o_O
Oh God, it IS a song from Caddyshack. O_O
Oh, hm, it's "I'm All Right", I didn't think that was in that movie.
...this could be just alright... >.>
Oh, wow, she actually changed it up a bit. :o
Very nice.
I liked her mic stand, too; it had this blown glass section near the top, it was pretty.
Randy said that he liked that she changed it up a bit, and that she was definitely being an artist as opposed to a contestant.
Ellen said that the performance was "Crystalized", and that she made the song better.
Kara agreed with Ellen.
Simon said that Crystal was back in the game.
Oh God, Casey and Michael are gonna sing a Bryan Adams love song :x
...the spiteful part of me wants them to fail at it because Bryan Adams' company put a flag on my youtube account... >.>
It's "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman".
Oh, it was a nice performance, actually. It was kind of blah in the beginning. then Michael came in and kind of gave it a sensual feel, then they came together, and played some good acoustic guitar, and it was actually kind of enjoyable. At least the guitar playing part.
It wasn't as good as Lee and Crystal's duet, but it was good.
Ellen said, "As a matter of fact, I have loved a woman." lol, Ellen xD
I hope Portia was watching :3
Ugh, my mom thinks it's going to be Casey and Michael at the finale! DX
I beg to differ. :|
Hm, Jamie Foxx didn't give out any t-shirts at the end... :P
Well, they were running out of time.
And for something unrelated to American Idol, just before I watched that, I skipped watching The Ellen Degeneres Show in favor of watching Dr. Phil, something I rarely do.
(I missed Slash and Adam Levine performing together, dammit :[ )
The reason being that he did a show that he'd never done before; one about animals.
Mainly dogs, but hey, this is something he's never done before, I wanted to see how he'd do o.o
I got an email about the show from DawnWatch prior to it airing, but I actually first heard about it from a commercial for it.
Here's the official description of the show:
"Tuesday - May 11, 2010
Dr. Phil Confronts Animal Abusers
Every 10 seconds an animal is abused in this country. By the time this show is over, nearly 240 animals will be tortured. Dr. Phil, a huge animal lover, is taking a stand. First up, Rob says dog fighting is not a crime, and believes that it’s no different than boxing or football. He was convicted of a felony after authorities caught him in the act and says he wants to clear up the misconceptions about dog fighting. Will Rob get a wake-up call about this brutal "sport"? Then, they may look like a group of tattooed tough guys, but cast members from the TV show Rescue Ink say they’re on a mission to save animals in danger. Take a look as they go inside a dog fighting yard to demonstrate how they gather evidence for a bust. Plus, New Yorkers were outraged by surveillance video that captured Chris Grant terrorizing his girlfriend’s Pomeranian on an elevator. Learn how Chris’ father reacts to his behavior. Viewer discretion is advised."
Here's the link to the page on the show, with clips:
http://drphil.com/shows/show/1464 As for Rob's "wake-up call", I highly doubt he had one. -_-
The Rescue Ink guys were great; I love them.
One of them almost started a fight with the dogfighter guy, ha xD
Another one was holding this ADORABLE, tiny poodle in a doggie wheelchair, and he said that she had been literally thrown out because she couldn't use her back legs. The Rescue Ink guys rescued her and had a special wheeled apparatus made for her to wear so she could get around on her own.
She was snuggled up against the guy until he put her down to show how she walked; it was precious :3
The surveillance video that they talked about in the description was terrible U.U
And Paris Hilton made an appearance near the end of the show to promote adopting animals from shelters.
It was actually a pretty good show. I liked Dr. Phil's approach on it, like with the dogfighting guy; that the people who do these things aren't just "evil", plain and simple, but that there's something wrong with their mental state and way of thinking that makes them act that way. Phil basically tried to figure out what makes the dogfighting guy tick.
I could pretty much tell that there was something wrong with the guy's way of thinking, too.
He thinks that the way he fights dogs is more humane than how the other people they were talking about fight dogs. -.-
Dr. Phil made how he felt about the issue very clear: He said repeatedly that animal cruelty and dogfighting is "disgusting."
He also had a convicted animal hoarder on the show; she had had over 200 dogs and 25 cats in her California home; the heat had killed some of them, the dogs had injuries from fighting each other over food, and the house was filthy. She went to jail for five months over it.
The shelter was able to adopt out 90% of the animals that they seized from her house, so at least it had a happy ending.
At the very end of the show, Dr. Phil donated $10,000 to SPCA-LA, and another $10,000 to Rescue Ink :D
Dr. Phil's shows have been mostly crap for the past couple of years, so this really impressed me. I commend him for doing a show like that ^^
I might just write some feedback on the website on it if I get the time.
So that was my Tuesday, woo.
...OH WAIT! :D
I got a postcard from Eva in the mail that day!! ^_^
She and her cats got there safely, the landscape's beautiful where she is in Switzerland, and weirdly enough, the weather there at the moment sounds as cold and dreary as it has been here in PA o_O
Seriously, for the last few days, including Tuesday, it's been either unseasonably cold, or raining. The sun just managed to come out today (Thursday), but it's supposed to rain again tomorrow. -.-
The rain is okay, but the cold was confusing o.O
But yeah, that little card filled me with glee ^_^
Thanks, Eva!! :D
