So they induced me as scheduled on March 20th. Things went fine and Maeve Opal Kirk was born at 4:22 pm. She was 7lbs 15.8 oz. and 19 3/4 in long. Born on the first day of spring under a full moon, she's going to have an interesting life I suspect.
Then the problems started. She turned yellow, very yellow. The jaundice was so bad she ended up in the NICU at the children's hospital here in Louisville. Fortunatly 4 days on iv fluids and billi lights cleared things up. The levels of Billi-ruben were so high it could have caused seizures and brain damage if it hadn't been caught so quickly. (She's fine, no worries our, pediatrician is fantastic)
So now she's 3 weeks old healthy as a horse and eating like she has 2 hollow legs. Unfortunately I don't produce enough milk to strictly breast feed and the meds they gave me to up production tore my tummy up so badly it defeated the purpose. Dehydrated Mommy can't make milk.
