I don't want my livejournal to have anything to do with Facebook or Twitter. I don't even want to see their icons when I'm over here. What a drag.

Seriously considering going 'friends only'...

Friends only won't work either. There is a "glitch" where people can post their comments to your friends only posts too.

If you don't want to see it yourself you can use the firefox greesemonkey app and this new lj app someone made that makes it disappear at least while you are viewing things.

does this glitch post MY content, or just theirs?

er, and I guess if it's locked to people with lj accounts they can't see my posts. I think I'm going to shut down...

d@mn it and there's the "repost settings" again under the comment box! My temper's making my ears red. haha.

Oh good. It's gone now--well at least I can't see it. Thank God. *groan*

Do either of you happen to know the full scoop on this? I'm only just starting to dig into it.

I assume it would only post something to facebook if you tick the box for it, right? But of course, there is the possibility of accidentally ticking it, or just some other glitch that worries me.

Another possibility, re-assign your LJ e-mail address to a different one than your facebook account uses. I would *think* that would help, because I assume e-mail address is how they link you to your fb account.

Edited to add: I'm not connecting my account to fb, which I assume also will protect me. Assume, though--maybe not smart when facebook is involved. =\

I used the firefox application my sister mentioned and that made the HORRIFIC I HATE TO LOOK AT THE TWITTER LOGO ticky boxes go away.

The scoop on the 'accidental' posting to facebook is that your friend could have linked their LJ comments to Facebook and accidentally 'tick' the box while commenting on one of your locked posts.

It's one thing to put your own stuff on there--but not comments on someone else's journals private posts. Oof.

You can find the "make it disappear" instructions here in the very first comment. I think you have to already have grease monkey active in your firefox browser. Then just click 'install' on the LJ tweak.

I have never ever ever had a problem with LJ until now. This bites.

Okay, I don't get angry often but I purposefully don't want LJ hooked up to facebook... ever. So I actually left a comment.

In case Jilly didn't make it clear enough, policing yourself won't fix the problem. People commenting can retweet/facebook their comment with a link back to your post. And you can't control what other people do (which they might do on accident...it is so close to the "post" button after all). And if it is flocked and someone does that they can still retweet/facebook their comment with a link back to your post. Even if people can't then read your flocked post reading the comment alone is troubling enough depending on what that comment divulges.
