I've never heard anything by Mahler... I think I'm missing out. Maybe I'll buy a CD... any recommendations, music people? (specific pieces, recordings, etc.)
I've heard Mahler 5 and 7 are awesome, but can't personally attest.
*music major geek time* Conductor: Leonard Bernstein is mostly considered the greatest Mahler interpreter, but Michael Tilson Thomas' new recordings [San Francisco Symphony] are much more recent and are getting very famous. I foolishly don't have MTT Mahler, but his Berlioz and Stravinski are amazing.
